Yes, I know it's December, but Thanksgiving wasn't that far back.
This thread is a place where you can say what you are grateful for in Dragon Age.
To clarify, this is NOT another place to state your grievances or complain, there are literally hundreds of other threads to do that.
This is not one of them.
(I will post a similar thread in the Mass Effect area as well; same idea, same rules apply.)
DRAGON AGE ORIGINS
I am grateful for the chance to see Thedas for the first time, and to stop the Fifth Blight.
I like how all the companions could become your friends, willing to stand with you until the very end.
Even the ones who "disapprove", they all band together when it counts.
DRAGON AGE 2
I liked the dialogue wheel, the "good, evil, or funny" was clever. Being able to pick special options based on Hawke's "morality" was a good feature.
I enjoyed seeing some familiar faces, and seeing how they continued to develop as people, and speaking of faces, I really, REALLY appreciate the Black Emporium.
I am grateful for the opportunity to meet all my companions and to hear their stories. To helping them through thick and thin.
DRAGON AGE INQUISITION
I am grateful for the amount of customization in Inquisition. Whether it's the Player Character's appearance or the crafting system, being able to outfit my party "just so" is very satisfying.
I am grateful that all 9 companions have each of the specializations, so if you want to try a different one, you can simply control that character for a while.
I appreciate the level of detail in each area, each one has it's own mood, it's own story, my favorites are the Emprise du Lion (not one but TWO dragon fights, plus all the Dawnstone you could ever need!) and the Frostback Basin (so much Silverite, it's crafting heaven! Meeting the previous Inquisitor!)
I am grateful for the amount of care taken in writing the companions. Each one has different reasons for joining that are not readily apparent.
I don't have a favorite, because I like them all for wildly different reason:
Cassandra; she is faithful no matter what, and always tries to do the right thing.
Varric; even though he paints himself as "selfish", when the chips are down, he never fails his friends.
Solas; he ultimately becomes the bad guy, but you kinda root for him anyway.
Blackwall; he knows he did wrong, but he never stops trying to make right.
Cole; he wants to help.
Dorian; even though he puts on airs, he's a real person at heart.
Sera; she stands up for the little guy.
Vivienne; ironically enough, I like her "least", but it's because of that that I find her so interesting.
Iron Bull; in a world that is so tumultuous, he is so certain. Even if he betrays you in the end, he isn't half-hearted about it.
---------------------
I could likely go on for pages, but that might be too extensive for this thread, so let me suffice with this:
Thank you for allowing me to experience the stories of Thedas, and to see how all the threads connect.
For being able to experience side-by-side, the rise of kings, the fall of tyrants, the forging of heroes, and the bonds of friendship.
Ataas shokra, Ataash varin kata.
Valos atredum, best of the vein.
Ma serannas, Ir tel'him.
Maker watch over you, Maker be with you.
