Lol, what an ass you are. You absolutely were making an assumption; you assumed Zerican was playing on console, and made a pathetic remark about why PC gaming is 'superior'. Zerican told you she's actually playing on PC, and those mods don't work, and rather than go "Oh, I see...", you arrogantly stick to your guns like a petulant child and post an arrogant reply 'explaining' (rationalizing) why your original comment was not unfounded.

Dude, your comment was baseless and off the mark. you gotta deal with that. What is it with people like you who just can't admit when you're off about something? The sad thing is you're actually convincing yourselves more than anyone else...

Aw, thank you for not descending to my level of being an ass. Yes, I was being an ass. On purpose. I'm good at that.  =]

Why velvet? The RW counterparts of those uniforms weren't velvet.

I thought that was an odd remark as well, especially given that there are a couple of fabrics that approximate to velvet in their somewhat fluffy/crinkly texture. And if you don't feel that those are velvety enough, that is not really a graphics engine issue, but rather how Bioware decided to texture those fabrics. I attest that, with the way the fabrics textures are designed, and their way of implementing colors and shine, that it is possible to do velvet.

But they should've been ;) in a perfect world. They would've worked well as silk because it does the silk sheen well. It's more interesting to look at solid block designs like that if you've got something interesting going on with the texture. Same reason a silk solid color garment is more eye catching than a cotton solid color garment in the real world. Except irl the cotton shirt or whatever has fades, stretches, folds and things. These in game have a plastic quality that isn't all that appealing.

Also, animation, in my experience, doesn't work so well as a 1-1 analogue with the RW, unless you've got hyper-realistic detail going on. Like superhero constumes tend to look silly in reality if you use common materials, but they work in comics or cartoons. Jeans and a plain T tend to look fugly in a game. Stage makeup doesn't work on the street, but street makeup doesn't work on stage. Same thing. It has to pop on screen one way or another.

I'm sure it is, but it's complex, and if they can render it well given the limitations of simultaneously rendering everything else they've got going on, I haven't seen it yet.

Or it could just be an art issue, sure. Still, I haven't seen it done.

Edit 2: I think the closest I've seen is in the Shrek series, come to think of it. Those were very high quality, cinematic renders, no real time render required. So I guess that factors into my expectation here. Granted, it's been a while.

I have been scouring nexusmods and tumblr and, indeed, google itself for Halamshiral outfit mods.

The good ones were hidden by modders in 2015, only Exquisition remains, which is simply re-texture.

ARE YOU CERTAIN THERE ARE NO GOWNS FOR MY ELVEN INQUISITOR I CAN SAFELY DOWNLOAD? MUST I MOD IT MYSELF???

Uh... hidden?

Red and Black Halamshiral Finery

Halamshiral Finery

Altered Finery

Green and gold Halamshiral finery

Exquisition

Inquisition Branded Finery

Champagne and Truffles - Halamshiral Attire

Champagne and Truffles - Ballgowns for All Races

If you MUST have a gown, Champagne and Truffles - Ballgowns for All Races has detailed instructions in the description, but it requires the use of either 3 or 4 mods total, depending on which method you use.

Very pretty :D

You can also get some Skyhold PJ retextures that are gowns and use the Formal Attre replacer that uses your PJ in Halamshiral/Winter Palace.

That's how I did :P
