Hi,

I am playing this game on PC and I have been trying to reset the merchant in Hissing Waste and Emprise by doing the following:

1. Check the merchant in Hissing Waste and Emprise.

2. Go back to Skyhold.

3. Save and quit out of the game to desktop.

4. Start the game and go back to last save.

5. Check merchant again.

6. Rinse and repeat.

The above steps doesn't seem to be working for at all. I have been doing it a few times now and still no new schematics. Is this completely random and I am just having really bad luck? Or was this fixed in a patch or something?

Thanks.

First, do you have the Short List perk? Hardly worth resetting the market unless you do.

Many people share your pain:

There are two theories about how the market works wrt the Short List Perk. It's either randomized at zone entry, but with an extremely low probability, like 1 out of 50, or, it's real time based, like you have to wait X real time hours before it will update. It might be both. :(

If the latter is true and you are on PC, you might be able to hack it by adjusting your system clock, but I don't know if anyone has tried that.

If the former it true, prepare to grind. I would advise that you don't use Skyhold as your zone-out destination, takes too long to load. Val Royeaux loads faster on my PC, so I use that.

Sucks that there is no local zone in Hissing Wastes or EdL, otherwise zoneing-out would be so much easier. On the other hand, at least in EdL, all the chests in Valeska's Watch reset after a Quick Save/Quick Load.

Regarding the bolded. You don't even need to do a Quick Save/Load, at Valeska's, if you don't want. Just running back out of the two doors, and then immediately going back through said doors, resets the chests.

Sorry I have no helpful insight into the OP's query. I always take the Short List perk, and have never seen a set pattern that I can discern. :P
