I've noticed throughout some of their games that there's an area where you have to go solo and there's a locked object only a rogue can unlock. Usually it's nothing really of importance but at the same time it can drive someone with the need to explore every inch of the game crazy.
Does Bioware want us to play rogues?

But that holds true for needing mages and warriors to open areas that only they can open.

Veilfire can only be lit by mages, so at times they get me thinking if Bioware wants us to play Mages.

Boiware doesn't care what class we play, they make it so that you need one of each in the party. Only doors you hit alone that are locked are in the Winter Palace and, if greys and junk are really that important to you, then, by all means, you have to be a rogue but otherwise, no you don't need to be one.
There is a wall you have to bash with a warrior inside Valamar, again nothing spectacular back there but, it needs a warrior. No Veilfire, well you absolutely must ignite braziers in some places so, the one must have to be able to finish the game is a mage. The rest make it nice and get you more stuff but, you could play the entire game and, do every quest without them but, not a mage, some quests require igniting veilfire to complete and, for that you've got to have a mage in the party.

But not for the reason you mention, since Warriors and Rift Mages (e.g., Solas) can bash normal locked doors. And what DarkAmaranth1966 said.
Rogues are arguably the best DPS class, for sustained or peak damage. If you go just by the count of Youtube videos of Nightmare solo runs, most of them are Archers. Followed by KE, before KE was nerfed.

KE was nerfed... Well that explains a lot. I should of went rift mage. Oh well, KE fits my character better at least.

Anyway back on topic, I should of mentioned that in other games like ME1 there was an area kind of like Winter's palace where you were by yourself and only a class with I think electronics could unlock a certain object for loot. They stopped doing that in ME2 & ME3 but they seemed to continue with that in all the dragon age games. I think at least, can't remember exactly if there was an area in II but I remember in Origins there was one.
But I see your point with mages and veilfire.

Relatively speaking. Instead of being insanely godlike powerful, it is now merely powerful.KE was nerfed...

yeash there's another area wher you fight Maliphasnt I think he's called in the Emeral graves. There's a room with a mage operated table in it but the only way to access it was by knocking the wall down with a warrior. So I think there's something for everyone you just need to look for it really.

There is. But at the same time, they don't put anything absolutely necessary in locked chests, or say, behind the locked doors in Halamshiral. They generally want to encourage you to take a variety of people along, but if you want to play the game solo, or with an all mage/warrior/rogue group, you can do that and still finish. But if you want to go everywhere and loot every single scrap of loot, then you generally do need one of each class, yes.

Yes. Certain areas can only be accessed through warriors kicking in walls.
