That pic is from one of the first cutscenes of Destiny. I met him in the beta. Consider that this is in the first several minutes of the game, there is untold backstory and lore that needs to be established, this guy here is supposed to be convincing you to help or something, surely he will tell you a little bit about what is going on...
He says (paraphrased) "I could tell you about this, about that, about everything that is going on and has happened since your death..." And then he doesn't tell you a goddamn thing. It was at this point that the game lost me and I shut it off, never to return again.

All great stories have a start and this one has been one of the greatest stories ever told.
Though I will admit that the way you put it sounds a little silly.

Also on a complete tangent I think I just found the source material for the Thresher Maw. And it's terrifying. It's called the Bobbit Worm, and it grows to 10 goddamn feet long.

I only played MP brefily, so I don't have any stories about that. However, I have another story pertianing to your gif. One day quite a few years ago now, I was walking on the beach near my cottage and I had a friend with me, anyway we came across some French people next to a sandbar, and my buddy is fluent in French (at the time I was not that great at French) and he said "they are really grossed out" and I of course asked "why?" He said "They found a weried snake or worm" and I'm like "we don't have that kind of sea life here, are they high French people?" And he says "well, let's just casually walk by and see..." So we walk near the sandbar, and the French people have a bag in the water and in it is a bobbit worm, and I nearly died from the shock XD. Untill this day my buddy and I never knew what the French people had in that bag, untill I saw your gif. I just sent my friend a wiki article about the worm on Facebook. XD

The gif is from a reddit that talks about one of these taking out most of a guy's aquarium a few times over. He stayed up til 2am with a red light to catch the thing since they bury themselves in solid rock/coral, and apparently if you only get part of it, it grows back.
Seriously. This thing is just terrifying on multiple levels. No joking.

Bobbit worms may be accidentally introduced into artificial environments. In March 2009, the Blue Reef Aquarium in Newquay, Cornwall, discovered a Bobbit worm in one of their tanks. The workers had seen the devastation caused by the worm, such as fish being injured or disappearing and coral being sliced in half, but did not find it until they started taking the display apart in the tank. The worm was nicknamed "Barry".
