This is basically true of all melee builds, way trickier on plat than gold (for what should be obvious reasons)... At the very least you have to be way more selective about what/when you melee. Also probably a good idea to have a stagger weapon (Venom, GPS, Scorpion, Acolyte, etc.).
I'd say Cerberus is probably the best platinum faction to take on with a melee build, but some waves like 5 and 10 are stressful. Collectors are by far the worst, bit of a suicide mission to take them on with a melee build. Geth are quite a pain as well.
