N7 was specifically a human military designation, a level of proficiency.  So, who's giving these out now that we've left Earth behind permanently?

So the trailer's bad because it shows too little ME stuff, and it's also bad when it does show ME stuff.

As much as I love the ME series. There really hasn't been anything to get me excited for the next game yet. Waiting to be pleasantly surprised.

How are we getting to Andromeda?  And how was this tech developed?
Who is running the show here?  Who runs this program?
Examples of familiar races part of this expedition and how they earned a seat at the table, so to speak.
When is this set, timeline-wise, from the trilogy?  When did they set out?

It's hard for me to visualize that trailer. I mean, visualize it actually being made. The audience for it seems quite limited.

It's a very interesting discussion so far. For me much depends in how much they are willing to change. I don't mind new locations but if they suddendly introduce new aliens AND drastically sideline our beloved MW aliens then I'm not going to be happy. They are taking a great risk.

The trailer's bad because it was too generic.  I don't know where you're getting it's bad when it "does show ME stuff"  Though I suppose showing a canonized Synthesis setting would p*ss me off  :D

It's hard for me to visualize that trailer. I mean, visualize it actually being made. The audience for it seems quite limited.

What I posted was in answer to the general question of what would get me excited about Andromeda, not regarding the trailer.  Depending on what the answers to those questions are, of course.  Perhaps I should have been more specific.

I like the Star Trek/Star Wars/Babylon 5/Stargate style of soft sci fi. Mass Effect is pretty much all the gaming industry offers along those lines. So I guess I'm a little excited just for that reason.

Does anyone remember in ME1, Ash talking with shep down in the cargo bay about her first field training exercises, and how she jumped out of the shuttle onto a planet's surface -- sorry, the name of the planet escapes me -- and she thought, "I'm the first human to set foot on this planet."

However many new planets there are to discover in Andromeda, we will be the first humans to set foot on them. I know, I know, the Milky Way is so incredibly vast that there have to be thousands of planets we haven'tZzzZzzzzzzZz

For us there will be much that is familiar, in terms of technology and biotics and those who come with us to Andromeda. And honestly, the fact that we see someone in the trailer wearing N7 armor would at least suggest an Alliance military structure and hierarchy onboard the ship, right? So what we bring with us will be the familiar, all updated and shiny and new in a new current-gen engine, and what we discover and encounter and interact with will be brand new.

I'm excited for the possibility that Andromeda will invoke that joy of discovery, and that sense of "wow I'm the first human to set foot here." ... I just hope we brought enough thermal clips. Just in case.

I see no reason to be excited about the few tidbits Bioware told us about.

Currently there's only two reasons to be excited about MEA, either you're excited by everything ME, everything Bioware or both.

I've been pretty disapointed by Bioware last four games including ME2 and ME3. ME3 is the first Bioware game I only played once and DAI is the first Bioware game I have bought and played that I couldn't finish.

Right now the ME brand and the Bioware brand are not enough to get me interested in a project by their name alone.

What am I doing here some might wonder. Well, I can count on one hand the numbers of studios I like or liked. Even if their last four games didn't impress me, at least two of them were enjoyable to play and actually better than a lot of other games. I may not trust them to do a very good game again, I still have hope and it doesn't hurt to keep in touch. At least untill a better studio comes along, which fortunately for them and unfortunately for me hasn't happened yet.

You sure? If you liked ME1 but wanted more exploration than ME2 and 3 delivered, the trailer gives you something to be excited about, doesn't it? Anyway, that's what other posters have said; I'm wholly indifferent to exploration in RPGs, so the trailer is something of a miss for me.

There's not much to be excited about, and given that there's at least a year between now and release.........nah I can't do it. I would've been excited it everything on that "survey leak" was true.

I'm not very excited. I'm more wary. This is always the case when I love something. I think I've been burnt too many times. I didn't enjoy the ending in ME3, but it doesn't really have much to with it. I think it's more about the great separation between the original Mass Effect trilogy and this new trilogy. What about the continuity? What about all the different species, the galactic politics, the hundres of thousands of unique cultures.. and the history of the Milky Way Galaxy itself. We leave all that behind, including a vast galaxy still largely unexplored. It feels like such a waste - and the fact that BioWare relocated to Andromeda because they just couldn't deal with their own mess makes me even more wary of this project.

I'm not particularly excited about any upcoming game releases, but I don't see how that makes any difference. It won't have any impact on whether I get the game, since I don't know enough about it to make that decision.

I'm not against new aliens but it really depends on how they are going to implement them in the story. I want ME to strike a good balance between new and old. I still want to see and have MW aliens playing an important role in Andromeda and not becoming side-content. We shall see I'm optimistic for now but this can change if this new ME will turn out to be too "new" to the point it has just the ME name on it. That would achieve something even ME3 endings didn't score...being the total loss of interest for the franchise. I so hope to remain a ME fan as I'm currently.

I'm kinda hyped tbqh.

It's hard for me because, how the hell am i supposed to play another Mass Effect game without all those amazing characters? My god, i never loved the characters in a game or series like i do with Garru, Liara, Tali, etc.

But the sad truth is that Shepard's story has ended already and i have to move on, and i really, REALLY hope that ME:A turns out to be a good game with strong characters and a solid story.

I like exploration and open worlds so the idea of exploration coming back to ME should get me interested. However after experiencing DAI it seems Bioware and I have very different ideas on what makes an open world interesting. The trailers didn't show any thing indicating a departure from the DAI model. I'll be waiting for actual gameplay to form an opinion and see If I'm interested enough to take the risk of buying the game (never thought I'd say that about a Bioware game).

I'm keeping any potential excitement at arms length.

A year is simply too long to hype.

Fine to pop in occasionally, but best to focus on other things until at least E3.

I share your exact opinion on Bioware and their most recent releases with the exception of Mass Effect 2. I rather enjoyed that title.

@ Lee T: OK, but someone who liked DA:I, or never played DA:I, couldn't have your issue. Unless he hated ME1's exploration, I guess.

To be fair ME1's exploration wasn't anything to marvel at. All it was was a bunch of practically completely barren wastelands at best and is covered by infuriatingly steep and jagged hills and mountains at worst. The premise was great, but the execution was off.

Right, but the feeling of it made it feel as though you were on an another planet.  Other planets don't all have blue skies and sunshine.  In fact, very few of them do.

As I said, the premise was great. It just had some hiccups. I enjoyed exploring the uncharted worlds in Mass Effect 1 as well as the environments in DAI. I'm just saying the execution could have been better, and with their experience and the new engine I think they can pull it off even better.
