Sorry, I couldn't resist the obvious thread title ;)

I wouldn't play SP, but as I have mentioned in the past I have a job that denies me internet access around four months every year. So with ME2, my favorite SP ME game, broken by Windows 8.1 :pinched: I am stuck playing ME3SP when I want to play a ME game.

Having beaten the game three times on Insanity (and yes I now understand Gold and Plat stomp Insanity's difficulty) means I mash the spacebar like I just got downed in MP whenever Hackett or Anderson shows up for one of their boring plot exposition QET chats and am currently trying to figure out how to make all of the cut scenes with Scrappy VonStarChild go away.

Anyway, if any BSNers stoop to playing SP, how fast do you smash your way through the game? Are there any missions you avoid? I would imagine everyone (except QMR, of course) skips Geth Fighter Squadrons once you're on your fourth playthrough or so. After playing Gold I think it's amusing in SP when the game tries to oversell the introduction of a boss, especially the Brute on Menae. When I showed up with the Revenant X with incendiary ammo, I was like

So yeah. Do you guys just OHK Harby with the Javelin at the end?

I'm surprised ME2 doesn't work in Win8.1.  Works in 10 for me, but I skipped 8.

I haven't played ME3 SP in a while now.  I had meant to play a run to test something, but I have been too busy otherwise.

Used to play on Hardcore/Veteran all the time thinking it was about as much of a challenge as I wanted.

Got stuck on MP til I was about 10 UR's from maxing (at the time, since maxed) then switched back for a playthrough of ME3. Started it up in Hardcore/Veteran. (4/5, whatever it's called)

...Promptly switched to Insanity, even that was a bit underwhelming. MP really puts you through your paces.

I work in the maritime industry and have no way to connect my personal comp to the intarwebz while at sea. So post-activation DRM is my archenemy. You see EA and M$? Some people can't get online continuously.

I play it. With mods. Texture mods mostly. Talk about overselling the introduction of a boss; the Atlas on Surkesh, man. Especially if you've already been on the mission to rescue Grissom Academy. You've destroyed 3 already and driven 1 around.

This. I wanted to do my canon playthrough after ME1 was finally released on PS3. Now I'm doing a ME3 run with a female Shepard, but I play it maybe once a week, so I don't progress very fast.

I just started (re-)playing through all three, as Renegade for the first time. (So far I think Renegade Shephard is just an enormous a55hole. But I'm trying to keep an open mind. :-) ) Anyhow, I agree with you all: ME3MP turns you into a hellacious wrecking machine, relative to the SP campaigns' expectations.

Just wanted to add that I suspect I'm not alone, in having only played single-player RPGs prior to ME3: ME3MP was the very first (online) MP combat game I found to be even remotely addictive. So for me, returning to the SP campaigns now and then is sort of a homecoming -- I'm still an introverted RPG guy at heart. ;-)

And the Citadel DLC gets me every time -- why is it so much fun, to have bada55ed Cmdr. Galaxy-Saver plan a freaking PIZZA PARTY at his groovy Modernist pad? It's embarrassing, how entertaining that is. [sigh]

P.S. The combat system in ME(1) is somehow, simultaneously, more fun yet much worse than I'd remembered it. BioWare did a remarkable combat makeover in ME2 & ME3, especially the AI. (Wait, isn't AI illegal per Galactic Treaty? Maybe I meant "VI".)

Cheers,

Darth

What makes you think she wouldn't skip that garbage toaster propaganda video? The only good parts are where you watch the loyal quarian citizens liquidate the toaster hugging race traitors from their ranks. Oh, and where you can rightfully call the talking toaster a lying shitbird for ambushing you with like 9000 motherfucking primes. It's still hardly worth playing toaster tetris for like 15 minutes tho.

Now, I still do it because quarian civilians and babbys get murdered by evil toasters offscreen if you don't  :crying: . Plus, I gotta get all dem 875 glorious quarian war assets(another great double entendre) to achieve indisputable Master Race status( lol @ toasters and their pitiful little 815 maximum. What kinda' idiot lets those Reaper hugging losers live? Talking toaster gets rekt regardless, and the rest are gonna get fried in the good ending anyway, so may as well get a head start).

My most recent playthrough was like a couple months ago. Claymoar Engineer Shep was pretty OP. Has like +120% PRS with a Claymoar, and I ran inferno grenades as bonus power with chain overload. Squad was primarily with Tali bringing broken SP sabotage (still has the pre nerf 100% tech damage bonus and two target hack) and spacebro Garrus letting me bum his AP ammo so I wouldn't have to run HVB (I don't think weight glitch works in SP). I have probably 20+ playthroughs of ME2 and 3 in all (most of them with all the DLC as well), though I haven't been counting.

So, I was wondering, do we have an official emissary whose job it is to hang out on the SP forums and remind them that, with our Gold/Plat MP skills, any one of us is 3x more dangerous than any one of them?

If not, we should....y'know, because.

Well, I haven't played any SP DLC, Javik's one included. The day they go on sale on Origin (if that ever happens for this 4-year old game), I might play some SP again.

It had been ages since my last run i'm doing an engineer  right now . Mainly  to go down memory lane , the characters, dialogues, some of the music. ( not as good as ME2 but there are a few good themes ) .

I've never played the SP, but does occasional watching my husband play ME2 or ME3 SP count? So at least I know a lot of the back stories. We both tend to hang out in our living room where the games and laptops are, even when I work.

Mostly ME2, because ME3 is crap. Seriously, way to destroy an SP. Combat improvements (as especially showcased in MP) are wonderful. But the SP, I keep trying to play it, but like ME1, it just comes across as garbage. ME2 is one of the best SP RPGs ever made, but I can't even play ME1 and ME3 SP. I keep trying, forcing myself to give them "one more try", but it always ends the same. Shame really, because ME2 is such a gem, and explosions are awesome.

I am not going to play galactic delivery boy and be friend-zoned by every lonely being on the citadel just so I can listen to 3 hrs of listening to whining and 2 hours of fetch quests between every single piece of combat.

Glad Arkhne got a chance to rant about that to someone else's ears rather than just mine, for once..

Besides, ME3 is lacking in two important things: the Biotic God and the singing scientist Salarian.

IMO, there is never too much Niftu Cal, or Mordin. da-di-di-dee-di-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-di-di-di…

Asari-vorcha offspring have an allergy to dairy, and... da-di-di-dee-di-doo-doo-doo...

Globally I agree that the ME2 SP is better than the ME3 SP but still find the later of very good quality.
