Is there going to be a GOTY upgrade option for those who already own Dragon Age Inquisition? I don't feel it is fair to have to purchase the entire game again for 60 bucks when I've already spent 40. There should be a 20 buck upgrade or even 30 buck upgrade but an upgrade nonetheless. Do you guys plan on doing that in the future for us current game owners?
DAI owners want a GOTY upgrade option

Why didn't you just buy the GOTY edition when it was on sale for Black Friday?

We do? I am not opposed to the idea ofc. More options are always better.

I did the maths and it was marginally cheaper to buy all the discounted DLC rather than double-dip on the GOTY edition if you already had the base (deluxe) game. ![]()

No thanks to those trying to derail this thread. As Arkwright99 pointed out, the Black Friday sale was not any better than just buying the GOTY.
On the EA forums, they're telling us preorder chumps to shut up and go elsewhere, specifically to here. That is terrible on its own merits, but okay, here I am.
What their decision to not offer a discount/reasonable upgrade is costing the company:
- Rivers and oceans of goodwill lost from those of us who feel like chumps
- Makes Steam look even more cool (there is a discounted path to GOTY at some point for every game I'm aware of on Steam)
- Mah money! $$$
- Any chance that I will purchase a new release from EA in the future
Come on, just throw us a bone. I want to like you but you're making that really difficult.
I preordered every single Bioware Game on PC except Icewind Dale. I now know to wait for the GOTY.
P.S. I love GithCheater's sig line.

It makes no sense that they dont give an upgrade option or something like a 'season pass' that would include all released DLCs.
With the current sales the price for DAI:GOTY is 30 euros.
The discounted price for the 3 DLCs is 10 euros each. So that's 30 euros. Add the 10 euros for the spoils of avvar/qunari = 40 euros to buy the extra content the GOTY version has.
The deluxe version i already have costs 20 euros at the moment. It would make sense if with the current sales we would have to pay 10 euros to upgrade, or even bit more, but not 40 !
You are forcing us to buy the game another time, or to not buy anything at all. I will go with the second option.

Question is - Are there any other developers/Publishers that does this? I know of none.

Street Fighter 4 had cheap upgrades to the latest edition if you owned the base game.
Other games offer free GOTY upgrades though the content may not be comparable to DAI DLC.
Anyway the ship has sailed for me. I used to want this but have completely lost interest in returning to DAI. They should have bothered to sell this while DAI was more relevant. It already quickly fell into The Witcher 3s shadow and most people on general gaming sites no longer view it very fondly.

Yes there are actually many. Most commonly the games have a 'season pass' which has all the released DLCs in a discounted price. Some games like the ones mentioned above, have upgrade options. Even EA's BF4 has an upgrade option to the 'premium edition'.
Either solutions, an upgrade option or a season pass with all DLCs, would work fine for people that had bought the game at its release. Not giving us any other option than buying again the game. will just make people to not buy future DA games till they are released in a goty version.

Cool
I never really thought about it, mostly because if i really like a game i will just buy DLC as it comes out and never wait for the GOTY edition. And if a game passes by me i usually pick it up when there has been a GOTY edition out for awhile. My life story!

You had rivers and oceans of goodwill?
And lost it so easily?

Okay. And?
Seems strange that you're basing your critique on the sale price nearly a year after release. By this point, the vast majority of people who are going to ever buy DAI, have already bought DAI. And most the people who would play the DLC, already bought the DLC.
Arguing that you should get a discount on DLC based on depreciated value prices a year after the fact is just a bit odd. There's no apparent linkage to the relevant aspect of 'time'- be it depreciated value (how many euros did the Delux Edition cost at time of release?), or the trade-off of discount vs. waiting.
If you were arguing that DLC should get discounts over time, that'd be a bit more understandable. But it really just sounds like you want your Delux Edition to be a Game-of-the-Year equivalent. That makes less sense: Game of the Year deals are for the people willing to wait that year or so to play the game. Delux Edition is that special release for people who don't want to wait. There's no compelling reason for Bioware to cater to retroactively later as if they were the former.
Now, if you bought you delux edition much later, that's a shame- but that's on you. I'm fairly sure Bioware never promised 'your money to content value will always be as good or better than the GotY release.'

We just want the total cost of DLCs to be less than the cost of the GOTY version, so the people that bought the normal or deluxe version of the game, will not be forced to buy it a second time to play those DLCs. It makes no sense that the DLCs cost more at the moment.

Sure it does. It makes money. It arguably makes more than lowering the DLC costs overall. That's the most important sense of all in a business.
More than that, people who buy the normal or delux versions of the game have a major advantage over those who don't- they get to play the game before people who wait for the GOTY version. Just like people who buy the DLC separately can do so before the GOTY comes out.
GOTY is not the baselines value. GOTY is the bundled discount after everyone else got to play. If you own the normal or delux version of the game, then congratulations- you've already benefited from your purchase. That does not entitle you to a bundled discount after the fact.
Again, your emphasis of 'at the moment' is disengenuous. That varies by location, and by store- if a clearance sale means a GOTY version is on sale for, say, $10, what grounds (aside from 'I want to pay less') would I have for insisting that all DLC should now amount to $10?

I would not mind DLC being cheaper than 'goty'*. In fact there is a chance that it would make me buy them and play the game finally.

Bump, since now the DLC are more expensive than the GOTY (given that there's no holiday discount on the DLC and no GOTY Upgrade option for DD owners---seems punitive for early adopters).

EA, please at least try to make it look like you care about your customers.
Also, while we are at it, can we please get a version of DA2 that includes all the DLC as well?

It's just something to illustrate why the current DLC/GOTY pricing for base game owners is wrong. Of course the real question is if it's worth it. And as you might be able to deduce from this thread, it's not... (If you already own the base game.) If you don't own the base game, the relative price for the DLC is lower, which might make it worth it.

Pricing seems fine to me. You pay more, you get to play it a year before those that wait for discounts. That tends to be how pricing works.
