Some FemSheps, apparently. I'd never seen that version until I looked at some youtubes of that conversation today.
I guess it depends on the dialogue chosen prior. Unlike Jacob, I greatly enjoy the dynamic between Vega and friendly Shepard. I do think Loca would've been more fitting, but I admit it sounds a bit off. I don't like where they went with that in the Citadel DLC at all, but I'm happy that it's easily avoided.

I suppose it works pretty well if you're looking at the world through cisgendered, heteronormative, (non-a, non-demi) sexual glasses.
That word.
I hate that word.
It's a term that shouldn't even exist in my eye.
You mean, comfortable in your own skin, heterosexual or homosexual or bisexual or whatever.
Not that bs tumblr label some guy cooked up a month ago.
-.- I swear the person who ever calls me that in person will receive the most vulgar and terse rant I can conjure.

Except I'm a straight woman, often playing a straight female character, and I rather like flirtacious male characters. I don't think anyone in particular is dismissing the idea that the discomfort with gay content was a big source of a lot of the outrage, but I can safely promise that there are exceptions. I like that Anders makes an overture, I just don't like that my character can't offer friendship or anything kinder than, "This is strictly professional."
Well, a lot of folks like to argue realism and well, sometimes when you reject someone they decide they don't want friendship with you anymore. The 'strictly professional' response is a pretty standard rejection and not everyone is going to take rejection well. You don't always get to decide whether or not you will still be friends.
I'm going to have to do another playthrough because I remember at that crisis point there being two heart options - one that was a hard lock and one that was just kind of flirty but not a lock. I could be misremembering it.
I still think the community's reaction to it was over the top and completely immature.

Just a word (and one that doesn't mean precisely what you seem to think it means, as the case may be). It's a useful word, and it's been extant for quite a bit longer than a month.
It's fine.

I don't think I said anything unfair or accusatory in any way. In fact, I did my best to avoid it.
Unprompted flirting and different gender treatment feels very different from different points of view.
In order to create differentiated gender treatment, writers have to make some assumptions about gender roles, sexuality, and whatnot - which do not apply to all players or Shepards.
Fair enough, but I don't think those assumptions are necessarily the same ones you think they are. You have a point of course about the auto dialogue being a little presumptuous, but there are alternate interpretations than the ones you've formed. I like to think of the flirtation as being completely platonic, joking. I recognize that not everyone thinks that's possible.

Yeah, let us be as ruthless as possible: Burning down alien villages, lining up traitors for the firing squad, spacing undesirable squad-and-crew members, and giving long monologues and speeches about the superiority of the human race.

It means exactly what I labeled it as, its a label for everyone who isn't a transsexual. There is nothing useful about it other then it being a derogatory terminology to throw out folks for supposedly being insensitive it also didn't exist five years ago. And I'd bet you a thousand bit coins that it did originate on Tumblr.

Oh, I don't deny that there are multiple possible interpretations.
I'm not sure that platonic, joking flirtation can happen without some underlying sexual attraction - or at the very least, seeing the other party as sexually appealing. Can you imagine someone engaging in platonic joking flirtation with someone they found sexually repulsive?

"German sexologist Volkmar Sigusch used the term cissexual (zissexuell in German) in a peer-reviewed publication: in his 1998 essay "The Neosexual Revolution", he cites his two-part 1991 article "Die Transsexuellen und unser nosomorpher Blick" ("Transsexuals and our nosomorphic view") as the origin of the term.[8] He also used the term in the title of a 1995 article, "Transsexueller Wunsch und zissexuelle Abwehr" (or: "Transsexual desire and cissexual defense")."

I was unrelated to this thread listening to Rammstein earlier today for no real reason, it's true
It's kind of interesting it's all dark and whatnot but it's also this kind of melodic and pretty song also.

Great now I'm on youtube listening to Rammstein and it only reminds me that I wanted to make a mShenko fanvid ages ago.
I should make it a thing, whenever i speak German, to do it in a Rammstein manner just to mess with people.

........likely studies human sexuality.
I don't see much citation or research material, I see broad generalization, a bunch of conjecture and a thesis that looks like it stems from absolutely nothing objective. Conveniently none of the place where he supposedly conducted research has their archives on file, thus making any follow up with original research or documentation, an impossibility. Which basically means the quack has to be taken at his word, which to me isn't a great sign as for any validity.

Well I didn't say he was a nutjob, but I mean "sexology" I just immediately got the impression of someone with like a monocole and saying stuff like "the reason the adult human male gravitates towards the adult human female buttocks is because it is ideally angled according to the golden mean, which we can conclude based on Democles analysis of the Spartan rebellion..."
It just conjured up more nerd than sex expert or something I guess.

I don't like the term cisgender either, but to claim that a scholar who has dozens of studies published in peer-reviewed academic journals over the span almost 50 years is a "quack" is pretty laughable. It took me, literally, about 30 seconds to determine that this guy is a legit academic. It shows that either you don't understand or value how academia works or that you are talking out of your ass. Both are fine. But it's nice to know which it is.

The word itself is a Latin word meaning 'this side of' as opposed to on the other side. IE A flight from New York to London is transatlantic. A flight from New York to Boston is 'cisatlantic'.
You are right though, the modern use is brand new. Noone ever has said 'cisatlantic'. Until me. I'm a pioneer. And a space cowboy.
