Okay maybe I should formulate myself better:

I have nothing against people who have a different sexuality, in both real life and in-game but as long as they keep it more private ingame instead of constantly reminding you of it ALL THE TIME, i´m fine with it, if I asked something regarding this, of course no worries.

So you ARE a homophobe I see.

Sorry but I am fine with people being gay just so long as they keep it private is you being a bigot. People express their sexuality ALL the fraking time, by commenting on who they find attractive talking about romantic troubles or commenting on their spouses or romantic partners. The DIFFERENCE is you find it perfectly acceptable when it is heterosexual but if it is homosexual it is 'being force' upon you.

Grow a pair and man up. There isn't a SINGLE Bioware character in all of their games that forces their sexuality upon the player. Your insecurity about your own sexuality doesn't in fact make Bioware's fictional characters force their sexuality upon anyone. Be it Anders so called aggressive come on to Kaiden having lunch with you. The 'gay' penis isn't as powerful as you fear, it can't actually make you gay because it is eluded to in your video games. I don't understand why so many of my fellow straight gamers feel so threaten by pixel 'gayness.' Frankly YOUR insecurities should in no way prohibit other gamers from enjoying aspects of the game. If a Quaker came on the boards and complained that Bioware games should not include violence, I'd feel the same way, their insecurities about fake violence should in no way inhibit other players from enjoying this aspect of a game. MAN UP.

And to the idiots that cage Bioware for not being bold to include gay characters, this is just horseshit, sure it isn't brave or bold NOW to include LGBT characters in a game but Bioware was the FIRST AAA RPG studio to do so and when they did so it was brave because NO one was doing it.

But my argument wasn't about what should be done, where I actually disagree, but rather what was done. They decided to have a player character proposition the PC, that is what happened, so at that moment what other reaction could there have been to either accept the proposition, leading to the romance, or turn Anders down, with the broken heart. The moment they went with that decision there was no other way to react while your point, as far as I can understand it, is that there was no other way to react. However, isn't any other way reacting in that situation basically turning the other person down? Besides, on the comment on the new players, isn't that a bit invalid as that holds true for every interaction. A new player wouldn't know that if they choose not to flirt with Merrill the first time, who is really eager to turn up at Hawke's home after even one flirt if I recall correctly, will they have another opportunity.

As for Fenris, you probably had the flirty scenes some complain about even in this thread, just didn't register them, as the core scene is literally the first Fenris scene. As for Anders proposition scene, your argument requires to willfully ignore the heavy focus on male Hawke's being hit on by Anders in that very discussion. Hence my example of no complaints about Isabella hitting on anyone, as you yourself agreed to.

OK I was on my phone at work and now have lost the thread of what we were discussing. lol.

Yes I realize what was done with anders and why they did it. I just don't agree that this was the best or only way. how about an option to say 'hey we just met, you just finished a traumatic event involving killing your friend and I just found  out you are an abomination. Lets be friends first and see where that takes us.'

Or words to that effect.. or an option to ignore it, or have it better timed.

Besides which, I remember the silly complaints at the time, but you know what? There weren't THAT many, and at this point there have been far more posts complaining about the complaints over the several years since the game came out than the actual complaints.  It's not like it reached ME3 ending levels of player angst. In fact, I'd guess there are people complaining about the complaints that never even saw the original complaints.

Maybe it's time to let it go.

Oh right, BSN..  like that's going to happen.

It means exactly what I labeled it as, its a label for everyone who isn't a transsexual. There is nothing useful about it other then it being a derogatory terminology to throw out folks for supposedly being insensitive it also didn't exist five years ago. And I'd bet you a thousand bit coins that it did originate on Tumblr.

Well, you already lost that dopey bet.

As for the rest, it's a useful word. You can get the concept across in other ways, but they're clunkier. As for derogatory, I don't see how it's any worse than, say, heterosexual. Or is that derogatory too?

Nope.

And it wasn't dopey,it was legitimate, plus it proves its a modern term that didn't exist back when I was in primary school...like all of these labels.

I recall that fellow from Chrono Trigger off the top of my head and that was 99.

Edit: How could I forget Fallout 2! :( I feel ashamed. But yeah...this predates Bioware.

Did you mean Chrono Cross? I don't remember anyone from Chrono Trigger...

There's also Temple of Elemental Evil, iirc, which was concurrent with KoTOR. Bioware gets more credit, but I think they deserve it overall.

Well, a lot of folks like to argue realism and well, sometimes when you reject someone they decide they don't want friendship with you anymore. The 'strictly professional' response is a pretty standard rejection and not everyone is going to take rejection well. You don't always get to decide whether or not you will still be friends.

I'm going to have to do another playthrough because I remember at that crisis point there being two heart options - one that was a hard lock and one that was just kind of flirty but not a lock. I could be misremembering it.

What about the whether or not you want to be friends? Because my Hawke did. Or I thought she did until she informed Anders and I otherwise.

You're right about the two different heart options, but I don't really think that's the issue. For one thing, I'm pretty sure that if the player wants to romance Fenris, they can't flirt with anyone else ever. If they do they lose that possibility.

Also, what about if Hawke is a Lesbian? In DAI, any time you flirt with a character with an incompatible orientation, they will eventually tell you that it won't work and why. It's not essential for Hawke to be able to give Anders a speech or anything, but two possible responses, one romantic and one cold, seems over limited.

I still think the community's reaction to it was over the top and completely immature.

We're agreed there.

That description of Birdo still makes me laugh.

that Birdo is a boy, who believes that he is a girl, and would rather be referred to as "Birdetta".

Ya know I read a game informer back in 07 that mentioned that and I'm like, ah those were the days when we could all come together and laugh about issues.

That description is deliberately comedic while addressing a point. Course now a days folks argue those were the 'dark ages' I'm like go back to your Starbucks and electric cars.

Oh, I don't deny that there are multiple possible interpretations.

I'm not sure that platonic, joking flirtation can happen without some underlying sexual attraction - or at the very least, seeing the other party as sexually appealing. Can you imagine someone engaging in platonic joking flirtation with someone they found sexually repulsive?

I think that's a false dichotomy. There's a whole wide range between physical attraction and revulsion. My Inquisitor and Dorian flirted, just because it was fun, and even after it was made crystal clear within the story that he was never going to feel any actual attraction, they kept on flirting. For fun. But I don't think it would be fair to say that means he finds her secretly attractive. And while I recognize that this example might lack something for being fictional, I didn't find it unbelievable.

Ryan Murphy is gay, but I don't think anyone who's watched anything he's ever written could reasonably claim he's revolted by the female body. In the newest season of AHS there's even a gay character who talks about appreciating female beauty and femininity, but makes it clear that he doesn't, can't, feel anything sexual for them. There are a few gay artists I could think of who love drawing women.

I just don't think it's one or the other. Some people just think flirting is fun, with no strings or deeper implications attached.

https://en.wikipedia.../wiki/Cisgender

"German sexologist Volkmar Sigusch used the term cissexual (zissexuell in German) in a peer-reviewed publication: in his 1998 essay "The Neosexual Revolution", he cites his two-part 1991 article "Die Transsexuellen und unser nosomorpher Blick" ("Transsexuals and our nosomorphic view") as the origin of the term.[8] He also used the term in the title of a 1995 article, "Transsexueller Wunsch und zissexuelle Abwehr" (or: "Transsexual desire and cissexual defense")."

I'd been wondering lately, and I hadn't gotten around to researching. This gets a like.

While I totally agree, I object to your clearly defamatory attack on the power of the gay penis. It is totally that powerful, it will turn you gay on mere exposure, and I'm sorry to break ranks and share it openly on the internet. But the truth is there's no escape from it. One second, you're straight and them BOOM!, gay penis.

To be sort of fair, it is annoying when a person or character wont shut up about something. It doesn't even have to be related to sexuality, just have a god damn personality beyond one thing.

It's like how I dislike Anders in Dragon Age 2 because everything he says is about how he's a mage being oppressed by the horrible templars.
