I like Canada. Had lunch in the CN Tower about 36 years ago with my mother. Good food. Went and saw the Maple Leafs beat the Rangers. Even went to Montreal and saw the Expos play. Excellent beer. Swiss Chalet is my favorite restaurant. Thinking about it makes me want to take a trip back up there.

No inaccuracies, but it sounded more like you strongly dislike being associated with America in its entirety, as opposed to just the worst of it.

Which means that some American posters are going to be insulted now...and the cycle continues.

Kitten?

Spoiler

That kitten looks as confused as I am about this change of topic. Now let's get back to the matter at hand: straight white men. I'M KIDDING!

Funnily, I live in a crime infested cesspool, but the only time I saw a murder was in Canada. How do you figure that? When does that even happen? It was like being at home... yet oddly worse. :P

I never saw a murder back home myself although I saw several horrible traffic accidents

I do honestly dislike being associated with America because i am NOT an American. I can guarantee you that LadyMacDeath honestly dislikes being associated with Australia. The Swedes don't like to be associated with the Swiss either. It isn't that odd.

And when a person insists that there is little to no difference between two countries and then people take offence at being showing just how different those two countries are and can only think that bigotry or narrow mindedness could be the motivation i ask you what level of hubris do you have to have?

Well, I grant you that. I'm not calling it a horrible opinion. You got your own thing. But you really didn't have to enter the conversation to begin with. You jumped on my ass for nothing. I wasn't even trying to compare you until you brought it up. In my silliness, I thought Canadians were cool and similar enough. My mistake. ;)

That stuff reminds me of my own homelands disgusting foods...like salted cod that's gelled in fat and left go soak in the lard until its bones turn to jelly.

Surprisingly tasty

Speaking of wildly off topic...

In the realm of this thread's original subject, I'm in the middle on this issue.

I like dark subject matter, especially if it happens to be scary. I don't like grimdark, in the sense that a sense of looming hopelessness in a narrative will eventually become tiring to me. I half agree with the OP, setting aside the early mathematical error of "more than half of the companions being gay."

I don't care for scary/horror stuff, but I wish there was more urban "darkness" so to speak.. Rogue-ish stuff and crime, if you will. Grimdark was ME3's warstory, but I prefer shenanigans in Omega.

It's gravy, chips/fries, and cheese curds. It's the trifecta of food. I wish poutine shops made it outside of Canada, there are so many variations that are possible. We do have a food truck that does loaded fries but it's not the same.

And i responded with a simple post. You brought being an American and writing for bioware as if that difference was meaningless. Well Bioware is populated by Canadians because it is a Canadian company so being an American is a different perspective. And I pointed this out by showing how Canadians don't think of how they are Americans in the context of the writing staff.

Ironically the LAST thing I aspire to be is "American" and i would go out on a limb and say that includes 99% of Bioware staff as well because I am and they are mostly CANADIAN. So I don't think 'most aspire to' is really all that accurate given the context of the talking about the writing staff.

Seriously the world doesn't actually revolve around America, despite what fox news might believe. The rest of the world doesn't actually sit around wishing they could all be American.

Then you went on and try to insist that Canada is the same as the states. And it results in somehow, because i show how the two nations are different and how I have no desire to be associated with America because there are pretty terrible things that go with that name, I am a bigot in some people's eye. I even specifically stated that I do not think Americans or America is made up with all these negative points there are some pretty positive aspects to your history, but that gets ignored and because I am not rawr, rawr, America i am narrow minded. Seriously how the hell does that logic work?

I wouldn't mind more grim atmosphere, but I haven't gotten that impression yet from the little we know. If we're going to be colonizing areas it's going to feel more like the western vibe they've presented. We need large urban areas like Omega or Illium to get a good grittiness feel.

I'd try it, but I'm a little iffy on the gravy.

Still sounds better than lutefisk.

No, it isn't. It's very understandable and common, and I comprehend it perfectly.

If I had just been assuming that you disliked America rather than actually reading your descriptions of the things you dislike about America, I would concede your point happily, but as it is, I'm just letting you know that your description of the U.S. carried a strong sense of dislike.

It doesn't bother me, because I don't really embrace patriotism in the traditional sense, but it is going to bother others.

And the cycle will continue.

I didn't take notice of the bolded when it occurred. Strange how easy it is to focus on the negative above all else.

They're a Canadian company, but they're not all Canadian. I'm sure you know that Canadian cities are a big boom right now for all developers? Many move there. As for Bioware, there's also Bioware Austin. As for writers, Patrick Weekes is American. I'm not his biggest fan, but there ya go.

And I highly doubt they even care. I never saw this nastyness from them. And I adore some of them in turn. I'm sure Sheryl Chee is about as Canadian as it gets, with native roots... but she's just a cool person. That's all that matters.

Because disagreeing and pointing out how our two nations are NOT the same is nastiness. The hubris here is staggering.

Just your sentence alone right there makes my point. I've been trying to get along and you just insist on strife and division and a hostile attitude.

I could understand if I got attacked if I made a post about raping puppies or genocide. But you started a fight... because I got along with different people in my country. And gave Canadians the same credit.
