Is battlefront 'The cheap knock-off that tries and fails to emulate Star Wars Battlefont' on the same engine?

Fixed it for you.

Do you think it will spoil the quality of the cut scenes as the cut scenes in DA:I are a little rough and jerky?  What I mean is, that I think the cut scenes are very, very important in a Bioware game.

Maybe the FB engine has been updated since DA:I to support cut scenes, I don't know, but hope that's the case.

There's nothing intrinsic to Frostbite that would contribute to the jerkiness of the cutscenes. They capped the cutscene framerate at 30 in DAI, for performance and likely due to system limitations. You could unlock that on PC, and they played quite smoothly.

Obviously, the current gen hardware isn't going to change, but maybe they're be able to optimize it around those limitations now that they've had a bit of experience with the hardware. And hey, they won't be releasing this one on old gen systems, thankfully.

If you're that worried, and you're able to swing it, I'd say play it on PC.

After seeing the engine in action I am dismayed that BioEAware have gone all in with this engine.  Very lovely environs and weather effects and such, it can do a lot that way.  I think it was a big reason that DA mp had (has) many many issues and had so few maps.  It's a potential bug feast.

I hear that this is being made with the same frozen bits engine that DA:I was created with.  Does this mean.....you know, will it mean, you know......thingy?

Oh. Oh, my! That's....wow.

I'm surprised this didn't get censored by now.

I agree.  I think they should consider something warmer for the new Mass effect game.  The only thing that I can see what was added to gameplay with the use of the frozen bit engine, was having the ability to wander endless pastures gathering flowers.

How about "alright" ? Does that word fit better?

Don't hate me but it's a pet peeve (as an English teacher) it's... all right, not alright:unsure:

Yep... I thought their faces looked a bit wonky

In fairness DAI I think was always going to be a long learning project given it not only was it going to be a different and new engine it was also going to be the first RPG to use it. MEA won't have to suffer a lot of what DAI went through as BW wil have more experience now. The one good thing I think is the fact that Frostbite does seem more geared towards shooters than hack and slash games like DA given that the majority of the games that have used it so far have been shooters and given ME is in part a shooter as well  could well play into BW's hands in making things easier to set up. S oif you combine those 2 elements along with now spending some time with the engine developing DAI hopefully this'll lead to a better product with ME

Apparently Dragon Age 3 was using a version of Frostbite 3 that was even older than what was in Battlefield 4.

Depends on who you speak with. Alright has been in use for ages and is accepted by many. Some language purists don't think it's a word but plenty of English teachers and scholars would disagree.

I gotta give credit where it's due, though. BW did a great job with the camera angles for the PC height variation. When I played as a dwarf I was astounded by it. The tables were taller for my dwarf, etc. The whole environment reflected that camera angle. They did good with that, esp. considering races were not added until the last.

Idk if it was frostbite, or what, but there was an initial jankiness in the character animations. Like when I was talking to IB or Solas there was this stiff janky pelvic thrusting animation that was just awful. But they fixed that since launch. Much smoother now.

I hope your companions no longer stand so far away all the time. Or run around like they're on a huge sugar rush with the aggressive pacing because apparently they were programmed for a certain party positioning while idle, and god they can't handle any deviation from that. I'm trying to talk to somebody and these guys are just flying around in the background. Sometimes knocking into me.

They have nothing to add to the conversations. No interesting idle animations. They just run around in the back like a bunch of morons. Or they're off someplace with their faces planted in the side of a mountain.

The AI needs work.

The engine was made by DICE, an EA company. Therefore EA have already effectively paid for the development of it and don't have to license an engine from another company... just makes financial sense to use it for other EA games.

Don't forget hopping up an escarpment like a bunny or those caves with "steps" where your team got stuck while you fought alone.

Oh, don't remind me. :)  It's infuriating isn't it?  You spend so much of your exploration bunny hopping stones, twigs, and assorted dead bunny nugs, your finger becomes adhered to the jump key.

Okay, the terrain may look nice, but it doesn't lend well to game play.

I have not gotten around to mentioning the slopes that your companions can run up, but you can only slide down while looking a twit.

Yeah the AI needs to stand still when idle or in cutscenes as that annoyed me too a bit.

I think it's one of those misspellings that is moving towards acceptance... though professionals still wince when they see it  It's kind of like the a lot/alot situation. But Chrome recognizes that "alot" is not a word but doesn't seem to mind "alright"... which breaks my heart

The cutscenes in DA:I were poor because of BioWare's handiwork, not because of the engine.
