Hello, I just bought NWN2 Gold Edition (I got the dvd, i guess you call that "retail", don't you?) and I just can't play it. While it is opening, I can't press a button to skip the "Atari", "Obsidian", "hasbro", "Wizards of the Coast" screens, if I try that, the game crashes. Yesterday I waited untill all these screens and I could play, but after some hours playing I decided to fix that. I tryed some things and after that I decided to uninstall and install it all back. Now after waiting for all that screens I cant even click in the buttons to play, the game simply crashes. How can I fix that?

I bought the game after some years of waiting and I can't play =(

Help me please, and thanks for your atention

Gold edition is probably older than the Platinum edition.  You need to be patched up to v1.23 (final), and I'd also recommend using Skywing's Client Extension to fix more stuff the final patch missed.

Patches are here.  There's a utility to apply them batch-style, but I've never used it.

also,
make sure you installed Dx9.0c (it won't downgrade whatever version of Dx you have now, and its needed for NwN2)

to disable intro: In 'MyDocs/NwN2' ... eg, c:\Documents\Neverwinter Nights 2 ... there's a file nwn2.ini

in section labelled [Display Options] add

Disable Intro Movies=1

I found a lot of links here, which one should I download? What does "OC", "xp1" and "xp2" means?

I downloaded from "nwn2 pc english from 1231763 to 1231765" to "nwn2 pc english 100788 to 102809", it's a .rar file, how do I install that?

Thank you for the help ;)

Now it's automaticaly skipping all these screens =D

I got win7 with DirectX 11, will that be a problem?

Thank you too

yes. https://www.google.c...June 2010) 9.0c

----
.rar is a compressed file. 7-zip ought handle it.

- some quotes from tnt220's Patcher:

Unzip the file into the nwn2 installation directory, the above shown file will likely contain a file called nwn2_pc_english_from100788_to102809.rtp

You should choose an .rtp file where the number after from in the .rtp filename matches your version (ignore the . when comparing i.e. 100788 equals 1.00.788).

So you have to look closely at the filenames and line up the number of your current version with the number of a patch. Installing that patch advances your game to the next version. Keep doing that until it gets all the way to 1.23.1765

Banshe wrote an excellent guide to patching.*

* except the links are broken. see Tchos' links above for the good ones.

OC = Original/Official campaign (I say "original", since the expansions are also official)

XP1 = Expansion 1 = Mask of the Betrayer

XP2 = Expansion 2 = Storm of Zehir

kevL got the rest.  :)

Even though you have DX 11 you still need DX9 as well. I think it is on the game DVD so you can install it that way.  Installing DX9 does not negatively affect DX11.

Things will be much easier for you though if you just buy NWN2 complete from GOG.

Thank you all guys!

I patched the game and installed DX9, now I'm able to play NWN2 without crashes...

Is there any way to play multiplayer as if we were playng by Steam?

I mean, is there any way I can start a game and have someone joining or maybe someway I can see a realtime list of games beeing played and join one of them?

Thank you agian =D

That, and many other miscellaneous fixes, are why I always suggest installing it.

About "nwn2 installation directory"...that`s just where the game files are, right? The Neverwinter Nights 2 folder, a.k.a. where it was installed.
