There were so many great moments in the series, both big and small ones and some have already been named in this thread.

The one that for me stood out far above all others was the ending of ME2. The whole suicide mission was great, but the final escape scene was just a mind-blowingly awesome moment when I first saw it. Not because it was well composed and executed (it was) or because the dramatic music just fit it perfectly (it did), but because of all that went into it. I suspected there was a chance to blow that thing up and still get everyone out alive and it was pretty clear that the choices taken during the main gameplay would probably decide that specific outcome.

But when it finally happened, the effect was unique. Yes, I´d seen numerous scenes like that in movies or games, and many of those objectively old tropes and typical shortcomings and cliches were also in this one. But due to the personal nature of the choices in ME2, this felt like that it was somehow my very own personal scene and I remember the "holy sh**, we may actually make it !" moment very well.  It felt like all the personal experiences of the playthrough truly culminated here. Awesome :o.

That was definitely a great moment. I just wish BW would have done ME3's ending in a similar way. Maybe an escape from the citadel with timer running, etc. Anything, instead of what we got.

I'd also say while it's a big long for a "moment" the finale of ME1 from the Vigil Prothean reveal through Council/Sovereign decision and all that, which people have already mentioned in various ways.

I'd have to not include Saren's spider fight because it felt lke it negated the impact of the max paragon/renegade conversation earlier, like it didn't have as much meaning and they kind of owed us a kind of regular boss fight.

It's totally cool to skip whole levels and bosses, Super Mario Brothers 3 you could warp zone your way through pretty much the whole game if you knew all the secrets.

Anyway

BWAHAHAHAA I'm at work but still laughed out loud

Same here. But God I must have done it a dozen times as he always looked fine in the creator then like ass in the game.

This was the best goodbye scene in the trilogy and it still sticks with me.

Mine is probably the intro to Mass Effect: the way Shep moves through the ship with the music building up and you then get the final reveal of her face.. and you quit straight back to the character creator to start again.

So many times, I did that. I got so sick of that music eventually.

The entire Tuchanka part in 3 was my best "moment". It had krogan, shooting, a reaper getting eaten by a giant thrasher maw, Mordin, the salarians trying to sabotage the cure and in the end you actually cure the genophage.

It is all around and hands down my favorite "level", "moment" or whatever in ME.

Honestly, I think during the Tuchanka mission in 3, when the genophage is cured and they cue the original start menu music from ME1.

It was a touching reminder of how far the series had come.

I also felt that since they shelled out the money for Clint Mansell to compose the music for ME3, having that crucial plot moment in the game be a throwback was an immense touch of class that I frankly didn't expect from Bioware-EA.

My favs?  Hard to pick but here are a few:

 - My first conversation with the female Krogan in Mordin's lab.  I loved her voice, her sensibilities about her people, her tale of digging out of that cave with a shard.  I thought it was a really smart way to balance out their society, to show the brutaility of Tuchanka and the toughness of it people...and the potential for them to have a real future.  It was beautifully done.

 - Seeing the ruins of Tuchanka and the society that might of been if the salarians had just left them alone to evolve on their own.

 - When the thresher maw takes down the reaper (as the OP posted).

 - Agree with the post above mine...when the shroud erupts and the orginal music played.  I got the sniffles!

 - The return of "you...big...stupid...jellyfish" as a gag.  I know folks objected to it, but I giggled like mad when Shephard said that.

 - hitting the beam in my Mako

 - letting Garrus win the bottle shooting contest

 - the tube walk to the geth ship and watching the battle through the cracks

 - my first convo with legion on the ship and the red light and the hum in the background...it was intense!

:)

ME1, probably a tie between Spectre induction and the "I Remember ME" sidequest.  Ooh, or the "From the wreackage" scene at the end...

ME2 FINALLY being able to tell the Illusive Man to go frak himself.  THough Tali's trial should also get an honorable mention.

ME3, the ending, by far...

There were few great moments... quite a lot actually. Lots of them have been mentioned like the mordin curing the genophage and afterwards watching the cure "snowing" from the sky.

Few personal favorites are:

- The start of the suicide mission in me2, also the end-escape.

- Ending of me1 and the music and credits.

- Me3 the fleets arriving and starting the massive battle.

- Near the end of me3 in the "ghost kid" area on citadel the scenery is actually great.

- Normandy escaping in the end, reapers exploding or whatever ending you chose and specially the music that plays. I like the hackett speech ending, destroy?

- In me2 the overlord ending (square root of 912.04 is 30.2, it all seemed harmless...)

- the outside of the shadowbrokers ship was very impressive

I actually prefer the Renegade dialogue if you don't take the interrupt:

"What sound will your head make when it hits the ground?  Do you think you'll hear it before you die?"

Yeah, I'd stand aside too  :P

I always wondered what happened if you didn't hit the Interupt. That's pretty good I'll admit. Still prefer the one liner, how about goodbye.

Reminds me of commando and, remember when I said I'd kill you last. I lied. With the follow up with the lady in the movie when she asks what happened to him. And Arnold says. I let him go.

Probably the Suicide mission for me, it always has that intense feeling whenever you play it, especially knowing that your squad mates can easily die during the mission.

Call me weirdo but

1. Arriving in Noveria in Mass Effect 1. The venue, those missions and those shady people in the first area before we head to labs. The music, that stuff selling Hanar. That cold, cold place which really felt like some place from retro Star Wars.

2. I loved the Legion story. I was shivering when we arrived to the Geth consensus. Loving that silent part of Mass Effect 3 forever.

3. Fighting in Chora's Den. It is a pity that drinking became available only in the second game. I would love to drink there with the irritating Turian and with Wrex.

4. Anderson hits Udina. Really didn't see that coming.

5. Whole Nassana Dantius mission in ME2. Thane's introduction is epic if nothing ever is.

6. Chatting with or listening Joker. I think they were always made with a good taste. Joker reminds me of myself sometimes: always making jokes even in darker times.

7. Seeing Vigil on Ilos.

8. Conversations with the one and only Illusive Man.

9. First impressions of the Citadel.

10. All the well made characters like Tali, who was like a little sister to me. Wrex in Mass Effect 2. Garrus survinving that hit. Miranda and her touching relationship with her sister Oriana. Jack and her "hey's" and "thanks for asking - and **** you."

Ashley shooting Wrex

destiny ascension blowing up

Seeing the SR2 for the first time

Miranda throwing that asari across the screen during her loyalty mission

Zaeed saying, "fry you SOB"

suicide mission.

I already mentioned on the first page that the talk with Harbinger is my number one favorite moment

Harbinger killing the squadmates on the beam run. Too bad that didn't happen with high ems.

This dialogue between Shepard and catalyst

S: I didn't fight this war just to give up everything I have

C: And I don't look forward to being replaced by you, but...I would be forced to accept it

S: Not if I refuse to do it.

C: True, but you will be bound by these decisions, just like I am

S: I'm not bound by anything. Not by you or these choices

C: If you don't choose, you will be forced to accept our dominion. The harvest will proceed

Seeing the memorial wall completely filled with names and a couple others that didn't fit on the wall while still getting the breath scene

A couple of honorary mentions

Jacob Taylor in ME3. When Shepard falls to the ground, Dr.Cole runs out to help Shepard while Jacob provides cover fire, if he's alive in ME3 otherwise it will be Dr.Webber, making sure both get to the shuttle safely. Maybe the ME3 squadmates  need to take notes. The best part is that he's an ME2 squadmate.

The other is Kai Leng on Thessia. I don't care about the guy, but watching him throw the asari across the screen was alright. I would prefer a different result.

Every moment where I was able to remove the alien scum from my ship. Them dying on a mission was a convenient way of doing this.

Some of my favorite moments...

- Arriving at the Citadel for the the first time
- Becoming a spectre
- Talking to Vigil
- Saving the Destiny Ascension
- The end of LotSB (fighting the Yahg, Liara takes over as the SB, the kiss and reminiscing with Liara aboard the Normandy)

- The end of the ardath yakshi monastery mission (stopping Samara from killing herself)
- The Blue Rose of Ilium
- The Sword Fleet arrives at Earth
- Liara's goodbye scene in London
- Destroy Epilogue (cheering Humans, Asari, Krogan, the squadmate slides, etc.)
- Citadel DLC, the last scene

Speaking to VIgil. Easily the best conversation in the franchise.

Runner up is the Suicide Mission in its entirety, and battle above Earth.

Needed to add some more.

Joker when he walks in SR2 while Collectors were attacking. That nailed the Mass Effect 2 for me. Whole game has been so good and then it just takes the next level. I will always remember my first time going trough Normandy wit Joker. I also liked that joke what EDI made.

Gotta still add more: first discussion with Sovereign is very stylish.

OFF TOPIC / Scaryest part of the games? I hate one hidden sidequests in ME2. It is a abandoned mine/cave full of husks.
I hate husks in ME2, I was always struggling with them if I wasn't a biotic. OFF TOPIC//

Two of them were actually just dialogue wheels for me

Kelly Chambers : Call me Kelly

Shepard : No

Garrus on Thane recruitment mission. Reminded me of something Lt. Mark Rumsfield would say from The Burbs.

Citadel DLC confronting clone.

Paragon response: I will end you

Renegade: I will end you painfully

Hit Investigate option

Paragon : Who are you so that I can end you
