Why has no one mentioned the Valiant yet?
You either need the Collector's Edition, or mod it in (PC only). Most people do not have it in the single player campaign.

Oh right. I've got the Collector's Edition and all DLCs... it's been almost 4 years since I had to think about the actual contents.

The Viper is an (IMO) underrated replacement for the Valiant if you don't have the Collector's edition. With headshots it'll take out any infantry in 1 or 2 shots, depending if there's shields. And with sniper slowdown its pretty easy to get headshots. And if you don't get the headshot you'll still turn the enemy into a popsicle. And its extremely light.
I certainly prefer it to the black widow, which is overkill in terms of damage against most enemies in SP and can't maintain the rate of fire of the Viper.
I think people are disappointed in it because its a very different gun to ME2, but its great on its own terms.

I like Valiant when I started to get the hang of aiming with Infiltrator. Its really forgiving if you miss a lot. Viper is great in ME2.
