What if you could have chosen a side whether to side with Cerberus or with the Alliance? They may share some companions but certain companions are exclusive. People like Garrus may available on both sides, but maybe Kaidan/Ashley for the Alliance or Zaeed for the Cerberus. Would choosing sides be something you like to be implemented in ME series? ME games are very linear in term of main storyline, would you like for them to open up choices and letting you decide who you want to ally yourself with?

We kill the Batman.

Which era? Classic cape or the new era wing glider?

Which makes me wonder why a new age Batman movie hasn't been made already.

The problem I have with choosing sides or otherwise splitting the campaign is that it sinks a lot of resources into what is basically one choice. I find multiple choices which fork smaller chunks of content over the course of the game more interesting.

I would choose Cerberus.

I'd rather have a more interesting second side than Cerberus, if they were to do that.

That's what I mean. Cerberus is likely not gonna be in the game, but I would like to be able to choose side if push comes to shove.

That would be way too much work since you you essentially need to make the same game twice, once for each faction's perspective, plus people would then get upset that both factions would be doing the same missions so they would need to make exclusive missions (which is not quick nor cheap in a modern 3D game).

If both factions are opposing each other, it's very easy to have a few mission intertwined. ME 4 has a big world, so most of the sidequests should still be the same, I think what would be different are gonna be the main missions instead.

Still would take up a lot of time and resources they may not have, making the unique missions could push the game back at least 1-2 years for designing the levels and working scripts and animations, plus they would need to hire on even more voice actors to cover major characters on each side and they would need to read unique lines for the factions missions and then re-read existing lines for shared missions.

This could make the core game suffer (and the main quest lines could end up being made shorter for budget/time reasons) as well as bring in plot holes or inconsistencies if something is missed or overlooked.

It would have been interesting if ME3 offered option to stay on side with Cerberus instead of Alliance cause your protagonist was quite much forced on Alliance's side. Though of course siding with Cerberus would have required lot differences.

I would be interesting to play alongside Cerberus...just imagine, Kai Leng would be a squadmate. I'm guessing you could also have Garrus, Tali, Zaeed, Grunt and maybe Samara, Javik and Liara as squadmates. Kaidan/Ashley and Vega would be Alliance only. Jack, Miranda, and Jacob would never rejoin Cerberus as Cerberus is hunting them down...unless you can somehow convince them to rejoin.
