Okay so I got the Bosun blade that people on here seem to love, it looks like a great boss killer but I assume the method is, stealth, run behind foe, attack, re-stealh etc.

 

The problem with this is that for a variety of reasons I've had to use my assassin or alchy in more of a none traditional hit and run way lately, starting games solo, team mates fading etc.

 

I just got the hakkon blade a few days ago, obviously great attributes with the big damage and crit, but also that very useful stamina abilities

 

Before I got these two I had been happily using Bloody bargain (one gets addicted to that speed boost) and the stone something something dagger that give you guard on hit,

 

When I don't equip the stone dagger i miss that guard since i am in more slug fests, if i don't equip bbargain i miss that speed.

 

Whatever shall I do?

I have Savage Thorn for guard, but none of my rogue uses it.   Silent Sister doesn't seem to need extra guard even in NM.   For the other rogues, I like HM, Bloody Bargain, and Bosun's Blade combo better...   I have not figured out which combo works best for which rogue yet, but Savage Thorn is definitely a distanced 4th place for me.  And then there is Audacity... explosion is nice but I already have my fill of that when my Lego and Templar are using Bitter Axe and my Archer and Hunter using that T bow thingy...     I kind of feel like when you are killed by a rogue you should die quietly...   I have not been using alchemist's mines for a while too.. maybe I will try out the alchemist's wanna be assassin build!

I use Savage Thorn and Bloody Bargain because that's about as good as I have.

With Bosun's Blade, it's hard to utilise Hidden Blades fully even for assassin. (That's probably a L2P issue with me.) But BB + Hakkon will let you 1 shot NM pride demon if you land your HB perfectly...

 

I don't typically use bosun on any rogue besides assassin, because it's just simply painful to play and you can't just face rush everything with your SS anymore TT

 

So for my other classes I go with either double hakkon or hakkon plus bloody bargain.

 

(Or Hakkon + Cordova's Smile if I feels like I want to fade a few times for the laughs, though the added damage seem negligible and extra damage received also seem negligible... Oh I had my hope up so high on this dagger... On another note, I was incredibly happy last Sunday that I actually saw a lv18 being dropped for me! Now that was a change... 1 down, 32 to go! A hopeless journey, I know.)

That's my first match with Bosun's Blade!  NM Demons FC.   I was running around one shot Pride Demons and Despair Demons.   But if I miss and they have their guard/barrier up.. then it takes a while.   My twin fangs could almost kill a despair demon.... but it left with a tiny red health and barrier went up...

Dual Hakkon is great if you aren't addicted to bargains haste like I am.


Bloody Bargain/ savage thorn works for Pala if you are going for a tank /indestructible build

L2TB! No need for extra dmg from bosun for Pala! Damn the amount of damage overflow from throwing blades is just simply abominating even for bosses.

I think I am doing something wrong.  I could never get the throwing blade damages up.  I have the upgrade, I use it as soon as it is refreshed.  My TB damage is about the same from the beginning of the match to the end of the match.   I even took video to watch back and see if the damage went up.   I don't get the trick

Don't stop the attack chain! Keep hitting the same guy until he dies or the damage buff resets. Throwing blade, spinning blade, move on, throwing blade, hidden blade, move on, rinse repeat. Bargain definitely makes it easier to chain up your attacks due to bonus atk speed. Make sure your throwing blade land on the same enemy as many times as you practically can without sacrificing your killing efficiency. 

 

To start with it might be easier to pair up with a friend also using Pala and use each other's throwing blade dmg buff. Try pick on brutes, ignore shield guys. You can typically get 11k damage per hit if you do it right and you can crank your damage up to 30k per hit on dragons. So just picture yourself doing about 40k per throwing blade, 90k spinning blade, 60k hidden blades... Here, some real incentive for L2TB.

 

One can only truly appreciate how OP throwing blade is after they did a SS duo NM dragon insta take down. Then you feel, damn I wish that idiot dragon had a much higher health pool.

So I should avoid hitting weaker guys?  Because usually things die with one throwing blade... can't hit the same guy with anything else because he/she/it is dead already?    And do I not do basic attacks in between refreshes?

Well if you are 1 shooting things already then there is no need to abuse / exploit this mechanic.   It's most useful on NM bosses or HB.

 

Of course you do basic attack in between, just that usually I get plenty of CD from Throwing blade + Spinning / Hidden blade combo already. Basic attack gets the same damage buff as well, just like any ability, but for me it often kind of breaks the attack chain. 

 

You need a sensible crit chance for this to work fully on bosses and dragons because they won't go down in just 1 round of Throwing blade + Spinning / Hidden blade combo. You need to chain up your next throwing blade attack before the buff from the previous one "dissipates" if you like. So basically hitting non stop. And so long as you don't stop hitting, the damage will just keep shooting up exponentially, all the way over the roof.

 

If you want a taste of this, go to single player mode, pop flask of fire and spam throwing blades on a dragon on NM with all trials on... Just in case so far what I said still don't give you enough incentive already.

Don't forget to slap on 5 hit and 4 hit hidden blade masterworks on your daggers as well.

 

If you happen to have a tempest inquisitor, then bring him and bring Sarah as well, set Sarah's AI for fire flask and throwing blades to favourite and disable all other abilities. PROFIT!

 

Seriously why haven't Bioware made a Night-night-nightmare difficulty with mobs having 100 times more health than usual...

I tried assasin with bosun. I found myself spamming deathblow the entire match. Even from the front, it one-shots pretty much anything except a few, namely the bosses and the spawns(giants, druffalos, room guardians). From the back, the stuff that survives the first hit is even less.

 

The damage with bosun/hakkon is approx 1.5 times the damage with 2 hakkons (from the back)

I've tried 2 Hakkons on SS, but the guard generation is not enough for me at nightmare, unless my team is complete and/or has a good tank.

Sometimes it also bugs and don't generate any guard. So, I'll keep with Hakkon+Savage torn.
