Actually that reminds me of the one thing that did get on my completionist nerves: I have no idea how you can get every codex entry.

You can't, which is very annoying. There are mutually exclusive entries, and some still seem bugged, the City of Kirkwall being an example. After I finished all of the DLCs I still had numerous blank entries, but even cross referencing the wiki didn't uncover what I was missing. It seemed like the DLCs added codex numbers but never actually put them in the game.

That's quite disappointing. At some point I stopped reading codexes because I thought, "I'll spend some hours some day reading through them once I have all of them." Joke's on me, I guess.

Yeah and there was a site that had a better format for searching for codices than the wiki, but it hasn't been updated in months, so no Descent or Trespasser entries are there

Really? I've always found selecting "hold position" and then rapidly switching between characters when everyone's in position effective.

Shield Wall Cassandra on the pad, she'll stay put. Fade Step Inquisitor for (I think) two of the switches. Solas on one switch. Sera with the dodge ability for the one behind the gate. That worked just fine for me.

Exit to the swamp where Cassandra will be happy to kill someone on her list.

I feel compelled to always collect the plot-related things even if I don't plan on using them (for example, I get Celene's locket even if she's going to die), so I've never gotten the extra loot in the rooms towards the end.

But the locket gets you a private conversation with Celene whether you plan on saving her or not.

If you are on PC, there is a mod that changes each door to only require 1 halla statue, so you can open them all. :) I don't remember if it needs to be installed before you start the mission, or maybe just before you open the first door.

Used the Mod several times and it works great! All you need to do is: install it before you pick up the first Halla statue.

I too have a compulsion to collect all the collectibles no matter what game I play. I will say not being able to gather all the Codex entries really gets on my nerves.

That's true. And from a roleplaying perspective, it seems sensible to collect all the dirt you can get your hands on.

It is annoying, being forced to bypass doors and knowing too, that some things (codex) also suffers the same fate. I'm not inclined to install mods so I just pretend those stuff don't exist.

A tip for the elven puzzle in the Plains: Don't use the "Hold Position" command in the radial menu. Instead, use Tac Cam and click twice on a location to manually have everyone hold position (I say click twice instead of double-click because you don't have to do it quickly). That command actually works most of the time. Then just switch between people, but don't move them while you're in control. Only look around and interact, otherwise their Hold Position command will get overridden.

Aye, this is what I meant when I said hold position. I never used the radial except for horses and potions (and disengage) so it didn't even occur to me that it might work differently in tactical.

But you need it to get one of the Dalish god codex entries! I forget if it's Falon-Din or Dirthamen or what...

Of course a completionist thread would loop around to Codex entries!  I haven't done this yet, but it's on my agenda to find out exactly what Codices are missing and see if I can get them on subsequent playthroughs, even if I can't get them all at once.  Someday, I'll report on that.

I spend my morning coffee time reading through my Codex.  This has turned into a fun way to start my day.

I too hate that there aren't enough halla statues for all the doors, not for the loots sake but because you can open the wrong doors. You can't tell what doors contain vital stuff for x outcome, b outcome, or just loot. You shouldn't have to look up a guide to do the quest properly.

I also hate the statues as a security system for story reasons, but that's a whole other issue.

Doesn't everyone leave the keys to their room and vaults laying around for everybody to grab? I thought that was normal. Maybe that explains why so much get stolen and why my doubles keep getting assassinated? ;)

Well, it does raise the question of how you were able to stand the rest of the game. You didn't actually go out and find all those mosaic pieces, did you? Shards too?

Another completionist here. Yes, I did. The halla doors are the only frustrating things for a completionist in DAI. OK, and some Codex entries only available under certain conditions.

The inability to open all the halla doors drives me insane. I play on PC so I am able to use the mod that lets you open all of them, but I definitely understand what you mean. Plus, even with the mod, the only way to open all the doors is to play as a rogue, which I rarely do.

Here I'm lucky because Rogue is my preferred class, but I do feel your pain.
