I prefer the adept build, I like to cast Dark Sphere as much as possible. This build is good for that :

The routine is to cast Dark Sphere, then Dark Channel, detonate Dark Sphere, launch Seeker Swarms for biotic explosions, shoot. Once your CSMG mag is empty, Dark Sphere should be ready to be casted again. I add that you can also hide the Seeker Swarms cooldown with the Dark Sphere cooldown when needed (ie you can cast Dark Sphere, Dark Channel and summon Seeker Swarms in a quick succession).
The awakened collector is however severely affected by off-host issues (Seeker Swarms difficult to launch, Dark Sphere invisible in the first seconds, etc.), so I heartily endorse to play him on-host.

He is not that lag dependent, IMO. I play him all the time and I rarely host. Also he is my crutch kit. A true powerhouse.

For a weapon build I recommend taking both the dark sphere and dark channel, as their main purpose is to buff warp rounds rather than do damage on their own, I go like this : http://kalence.drupa...!24257384!584AG

Are the Dark Sphere evolutions that you picked the non-bugged ones?
Marks! Why you no like ACA?
It was tongue in cheek. I liked the irony of a Prothean being tossed out the airlock ![]()

Yes for rank 5, but I think that the DoT part of 6b is bugged. You still get the radius bonus though, what is worth it IMO.

It's the same as I use, but I put the 6th rank into swarms instead of 3 in fitness.

Swarmer count all the way, additional DR and an additional cast. Power amp all the way with this guy (one of few kits I also use the GS on, with the long CD on DS I want to make sure I don't cast it against single husks etc

Well, if u cast DC before summoning SS, u ll have to wait for DC cooldown, which can be tricky, if u wanna detonate the sphere. But u r right, i often forget to detonate BE from the sphere DoT after exploding it.

Yeah, the tricks with CD are all messed up off host

Some builds and discussion here with even more links to builds, videos and discussion here.
And a more recent thread about casting canceling here.
Edit:
And something about Dark Sphere mechanics and bugs. Dunno if that's still up-to-date.

Absolutely. It's doable when you target enemies at mid / long range because at 200% the DC cooldown is very low. If I'm at short range I will stuck the Sphere on the floor or against a wall. But globally I try to already have my SS summoned when I launch DS.

My ACA is a mix of power and weapon spec: http://kalence.drupa...!34251384!78AE3
It's not the most exciting gameplay but it gets the job done. Cast DS into enemies, follow up with DC, then use PPR to take them down. Seeker Swarms are there for DR and as a panic button against enemies that want to cuddle.
Detonating BEs is actually counter productive because you need your targets to be primed almost all the time for the PPR/Warp ammo. On the other hand, if there is another biotic in the team, then they can spam a detonator nonstop because you prime everything. That balances out the dps loss from not being able to shoot stuff.
I also never detonate Dark Sphere. The DoT does more than 2.5k dmg already, a little bit more than the explosion would... and since I don't want to put up with a ~9sec cooldown, I rather use that time with DC and my gun.
It is also nice to keep a boss afflicted with DC while DS is still available to prime mooks.

This is how I play him (hybrid):
http://kalence.drupa...!33M54384!58A95
My CSMG is only level 4, but left it at 10 in that build, since I'm the biggest newb on the BSN ![]()
Without detonating, DS is cooldown-free DoT priming, and DC is priming and DoT. The idea is to layer DoT everywhere to trigger Warp Ammo's damage bonus vs primed targets. Armour is just free points waiting to happen, this build eats it up.

You really can't go wrong with any sensible build on the ACA. He's a strong character.

I've always played him like this:
http://kalence.drupa...!34N54384!5D9D5
I don't bother with the bugged DS evos, and split it 4/4 with Fitness. 4/6/6/6/4 for maximum Dark Channel (which is used very often), max Seekers (for damage reduction, extra cast, and 6/6 detonations with DC), and max Power Damage Passives. The 4 ranks in DS with all this Power Damage still annihilates spawns, and groups of mooks who need to die asap. I detonate it almost every time. Even with Power Damage build, Warp Ammo CSMG on primed enemies still does decent damage.
I am thinking today I will finally try the Soldier build with PPR. I have not been using that gun (inb4 Marksmad reported) and this is a good excuse to do so. Also I have to color all my kits Christmas colors and Christmas Collector will be fun. I'm thinking white exoskeleton with red pattern and green eyes, or maybe switch those around.

What is the most effective or efficient way to play this dude? I've tried a power build and a weapons build but I can't seem to decide on either. I play mostly gold and platinum. Any thoughts?
The Biotic Soldier weapons platform is probably more effective, but the power build is more fun IMO. Can also do a hybrid build so you don't have to respec anytime you want to switch back and forth, though its less effective at either powers or weapons than the dedicated build.

I played one game with the PPR Soldier build and pretty much came to the same conclusion.

Yeah I really only ever play a game or two with the PPR build before I go back to the powers build. He's got too unique a power set, the weapons build just seems like a waste, even if it is more effective.
