No, my point was that the Hinterlands is huge, sure, but that doesn't mean it was successful. How soon before "Leave the Hinterlands" became a meme?

Isn't that largely a problem with the way the Hinterlands' major quests were structured? You've got one which you can expend right away, and another that depends on main plot progress and isn't really related to the Hinterlands map anyway. Plus the horse thing. But most of the time on that map you're not really going after anything important.

And Bio is probably still polishing those GOTY awards in their dark bedrooms, singing softly to them, so think MEA is going to be a success from name recognition alone, and all of the awards they'll get whether fans agreed or not.

Thing is, they're probably right.

That's true. It has multiple plot lines jammed into the one map, which makes it seem busy and crowded, until the next playthrough when you realize you can skip them all and have no impact whatsoever. I know Bio didn't want to force players to complete specific side quests to advance the plot, which is one of the goals of an open world, but I wanted more direct impact from completing these quests to our building of the Inquisition. Shouldn't we be forced to get horses from Dennet before we can travel all the way to Val Royeaux? And shouldn't we have to deal with the rebel mage and templar encampments before we can speak with Fiona or go to Therinfall?

Touche. But for me, good sales don't equate to an enjoyable game for me. I hope it's enjoyable, but I'm going to wait for reviews before buying.
