I'm watching an episode of Ancient Impossible, episode called Power Tools, and they're playing the Sword Fleet music. When all the fleets arrive at Earth near the end.

Yeah. I wonder if the History Channel got the appropriate licensing and permissions, because that wasn't a small excerpt or sample, that was the whole thing. They did it again in the episode Biggest Builds.

Was it the original soundtrack? You can stop people using your music, but you can't do anything about other people playing your songs. So if the HC got someone else to play the music they are free to use it as they please

The Ancient Aliens History Channel seems to have a thing for Mass Effect music. Or maybe it was licensed. They've now used it in quite a few of their shows. There was a documentary on the world wars shown a year or two ago that used several tracks from ME2 and ME3.

EA seems to license some of its IP's music to History. They regularly use parts of C&C3's soundtrack on their shows too.
