I am asking this question for someone else.  Since all I have to go on is screenshots, there will probably be questions that I can't answer.

Has anyone heard of the toolset missing ALL Single Player Resources AND how to fix this without uninstalling/reinstalling the toolset?  I hope there is a way to fix this without requiring an uninstall/reinstall so that she (potentially) loses all of her translations.  But it is the only way that I can see to fix this.

Background

Someone was asking me questions about the toolset and I tried to step her through a specific search to find a file.  She couldn't find it so I asked for screenshots.

The screenshots showed that a variety of files and folders were missing.  Because of mistakes that I made early in modding  I thought I recognized it. I opened an obsolete module and changed the heirarchy so that it no longer had the parent/child relationship with Single Player.  With the exception of files/folders that she had created, the folders were the same in my toolset (closed the module quickly before I could do something stupid)

At one point, the Demo Tutorial was in the heirarchy for modules that she created (I saw screenshot evidence of this)

She admits that she has changed Core resources (or thinks she has), but doesn't remember which ones

She has been doing translations of mods that change Core resources

An additional comment - in some screenshots I have seen indications that at least SOME of the Single Player files were in the toolset at one time.

Another additional comment - at one point her 'game was broken' and she followed instructions that included deleting folders to 'fix' the game.  Her game is (supposedly)  playable now.

Does she have B2B files of her work? I would also suggest a re-install. Reinstall the database too.

Unlikely that she does.

Since she is doing translations of other mods (some) that change Core resources, I'm not even sure that a B2B can be created. :(

Hey, in order to translate the mods, did she have to load a B2B of the mod? I heard from other people, loading a dialogue B2B can be really buggy.

edited~ I also remember while in the single player module, there is a setting where all you see is demo resources. I just can't remember what it was or how to get there.

No, she didn't have to load (any) B2B  (as far as I know) for her translations.  As a guess she is editing the dlb file rather than the dlg, but I don't know for certain.   (I have also had trouble loading a dialogue B2B - I just don't worry about it these days...)

I don't know about single player, but opening the Demo module will certainly do it.  As will creating a new module that shows the heirarchy of Demo instead of Single Player.  Or creating a module that says it extends Single Player, but not having Single Player selected in the heirarchy.

If you remember more about the setting... let me know!

It was most likely the Demo module I was thinking about.

I wish I could say something deep and insightful at this point, but I have nothing along those lines to say.

Me too. It has to be something in her  "open" module settings. All my modules are set to core-game resources and single player in the hierarchy.

Yes. I can't remember the exact details but there was an issue that could result in an empty database but that was back in the very early days (possibly during the Toolset Beta). Also there's this though may only be relevant during installation.

Any chance you can throw the images up on imgur or the like or email them to me so I can see what you are seeing (PM me if you need my email address). Before doing anything too hasty (as Treebeard would say) it would be good to ensure there isn't a simple fix.

But if the worst comes to the worst there are a couple of options:

There is a B2B of all the Design Resources that could be reloaded. However if they are already in the database she'd end up with duplicates of everything. Best to take a back up of the database prior to loading this so she can simply restore back if anything goes horribly wrong.

Alternatively she can use the BAK file provided with the toolset to restore it to it's original condition. Be warned she would lose everything she's worked as the current data is completely overwritten in the process. Again taking a back up of the database prior to restoring the original is a good idea in case it's not what she wants.

You may be seeing a pattern here: taking backups of the database before you start messing with core resources is always good idea!

She isn't missing ALL resources, just the ones associated with Single Player.  She has the Core resources, as far as I can tell.  If you open the Demo Tutorial mod, it look like folder/file structure that she has.

Still, I'm all out of ideas so I'll have her read your response - it is better than anything I could come up with.

As someone who works often without the SP in the hierarchy I'll put in my 2 cents on the general association.

The setting in the module´s hierarchy can be changed at any time (all but the core game resources.)

The SP resources should show up usually when the SP is selected in the module´s hierarchy. If deselected all SP resources and all custom resources which are in the ownership of the SP will disappear. If selected again those resources will reappear.

SP in the hierarchy adds 2 additional entries in the table t_Moduleassociation (3 in total)

ParentModuleId=2 (SP); ChildModuleID=4 (next after Demo Module); FullPath=1.2.4; Level=3 etc. and

ParentModuleId=2; ChildModuleID=4 ; FullPath=2.4; Level=2 etc.

Without more information and screenshots it is hard to guess something. Some questions:

Did she try to deselect and select the SP in the hierarchy? Not only to tick and untick - she has to open again the module after each change.

Is the SP selected and the additional datasets can be found in the database?

I have given the link to this thread to rosvita.  It is her toolset so she can answer the questions better than I can.

I had her select SP in the heirarchy and take screenshots.  I even had her open the SP module and take screenshots there.  Everything looks exactly like the demo tutorial mod.  It looks like she has Core resources, but none of the Single Player resources. :(
