What your barn looks like after standing 10 feet in front of it firing the Revy.
There are way too many holes in that building for that to be believable

To answer that question, Phalanx, Shuriken, and Predator. Drell do it better. To quote Cyonan, "The problem is that it couldn't hit the Citadel if you were standing on the Presidium." It's decent on the TGI/(real)Turian Soldier, but what weapon isn't.

Not when the Saikyo Master!!! shoots it with the Revvayand the cobra
AWW YEAH just used the Revveh to get 75 kills

on bronze baby!!
Revenant + Human Soldier + Stability Mod / Recoil Mod / Whatever the hell mod AR's have + Barrel of your choice + Warfighter package + Incendiary Ammo.
Tons of ammo, accurate enough to handle anything mid to close, light enough for you to carry a more precise secondary for long range, syncs very well with most soldiers and doesn't have the windup that the Typhoon has.
I'm not going to sit here and pretend the Revenant is flawless, but it's been my experience that most people who hate it just suck at using it. Use concussive shot to stagger and set off explosions with adrenaline rush to double your clip size and boost your damage and you've got a solid crowd-control weapon, especially against reapers and collectors.
but it's been my experience that most people who hate it just suck at using it
Really? So you've played with people who trash the Revenant, while they were using the Revenant? Yeah, mmmkay. More likely, the people who hate it are the ones who played ME2 and remember how ridiculously awesome and OP it was in that game, and hate how much of a pale imitation the ME3 version is.

This is true of all ME2 guns though. Especially the Locust, wtf did they do to it?! That thing was like the ultimate caster weapon, accurate, steady, and actually dished out better damage than almost every other gun in the game.

While I don't disagree that it was a great all-around weapon, that last claim is a bit of a stretch. Vindicator, Revenant, Mattock and Viper certainly had better damage output against all defences, and so did most of the shotguns, though they obviously lacked both accuracy and range in comparison. Locust was just a good AR substitute for those who couldn't use ARs.
On the other hand, Locust in ME3 isn't as bad as most people think (though still not great, of course). While it certainly has poor base damage output and is rather useless against most armor, it also has exceptional stability/accuracy and high headshot multiplier, and if you're very good at taking advantage of them, it can outperform many, many other seemingly better weapons when it comes to dispatching mooks. (May be feasible only on PC though, as you must be able to make constant headshots.)

I miss fking ME2 locust most of all. SMGs were never the same. Now they all feel like arse outside of the spray'n'pray-icaine, and maybe the CSMG. The punisher is probably good, but why should I care when we have the harrier, and lancer?

Um...no? I've played with people who trash the Revenant after they used it a couple times and decided it was beyond saving. If nostalgia goggles are your basis for what constitutes a "bad" weapon, then that's a problem with you, not the weapon. The current Revenant can't hope to match the ME2 version, but that doesn't mean it can't pull its weight in ME3. How a weapon in ME3 compares to its ME2 version is 100% irrelevant to this topic.
but that doesn't mean it can't pull its weight in ME3.
It honestly doesn't feel like it can even do this without heavy investment in consumables, and specific kits so it doesn't miss like half of its shots at mid-range where the harrier, lancer, or if you feel like ultra rares is an unfair comparison, the CAR doesn't have this problem.

What part of "I'm not going to sit here and pretend the Revenant is flawless" did you guys not understand? I'm not saying it's top of the line. I'm not saying it beats a huge majority of other weapons. I'm not saying it's a high-skill weapon that seems useless at first but becomes awesome with practice. I am merely saying that it is not a bad weapon on its own merit. I'm trying not to compare it to other weapons because this topic is specifically about the revenant itself. On its own merit, it is good but flawed. That's all I'm trying to say here. The vast majority of weapons in this game are good but flawed. They'll all seem like trash when they're being compared to weapons as hilariously unbalanced as the Harrier. That's why I don't use the Harrier. It rots your brain.
And as far as consumables go, the only one it needs is your ammo of choice. In a technical sense, yeah it's pretty inaccurate. But it's also a MACHINE GUN. Learn to compensate with powers and learn how to turn its spread into an advantage against groups . If the stability isn't good enough for you with a maxed out stability mod then you either need more practice or a different weapon. I've been reliably hitting and killing at mid/close range with the Revenant for three years.
As for needing more damage, I think we can all agree that more damage is a given for any weapon eh?
LAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAW
Er, I mean, seriously and unexpectedly... I just finished a pug during which I just obtained the highest score I have ever achieved and finished second for the first time in Gold. I was using HFS armed with the Revvay!!!with stability mod V, scope V, and incedniary ammo III. I spammed grenades everywhere, of course, and mashed the crap out of Adrenaline Rush, but I do think the revvay helped me be competitive for the top score for the first time in ME3MP. Perhaps if I had used Disruptor or Phasic ammo. Or maybe I just got lucky. These were not BSNers I was playing with (to my knowledge). Whatever the reason, it's a step in the right direction.

So if you all couldn't tell in this thread, I was exaggerating just slightly and don't really think the Revvay is as good as.......
WAIT A MINUTE WHAT I AM SAYING THE REVVAY!!!!! PWNS ALL OTHER WEAPONS INCLUDING YOUR PUNY HIGH ON CRACK LORD CLAYMORON AND FARTING HURLICANE AND CARRIER WITH THE CAPACITY OF A ROMAN CANDLE REVVAY LAUGHS AT ALL OF THEM EXCLAMATION MARKS ONE ONE !!!!!!!1!
apologies to Vorcha Master Baits

Although, coincidentally, I played with Methregul this morning when I was pUUGing.
GT with incendiary ammo.Easy money.
The High Lord Claymoar would like a word with ya
The High Lord is not a gun. He is our saviour from the Reapers who show explode their faces and bring us many scores.
Also, there is ONE THING that stops the Revenant being decent (on a few kits, lime HM, Destroyer, TSol, Marksman, etc), and that is the slowdown whilst firing. The same thing that kills the Spitfire kills the Revenant for me.
Revenant and Saber are the two best sounding guns in the game. Most of the rest sound like toys you give to kids, or space juices, I like my manly guns.
EDIT: Change to juices, because aparently j i z z is a bad word.

Not really, I did the same this morning with my Destroyer. Used a lot of hard cover for it though. ^^

In other words, you don't actually know whether people trashing the Revenant do so because they suck with it. For all you know, most of them are great with it (and trash-talk it for completely different reasons). Gotcha.
And there was no real reason why the Revenant had to be an average to below-average assault rifle, the devs could easily have given it better stats, so clearly there's no reason the Revenant couldn't have been expected to at least approximate the ME2 version (say, if it had the damage output of one of the top-end ARs)- it just failed to. Besides, there's only a few guns in the game that cannot "pull their own weight" given the proper mods and equipment, so this merely serves to distinguish the Revenant from the very worst guns in the game- it obviously doesn't follow that it is any good, or even that it isn't bad. Its just not the worst. That's damning with faint praise, I'd say.
