It bothered me when they pulled this in ME 3 when your squadmates are purposely taken out of the narrative before the final confrontation with the Reapers and bothered me even more in Trespasser, especially when you consider that all of your companions arguably have just as much of a personal connection to Solas as the Inquisitor.

So, am I crazy or did Bioware miss out a great opportunity for our companions to at least say something, anything, about the Solas reveal.

Agreed, would have made the final decision on what you do more interesting if each companion voice their opinion in a strong way.

When the trailer for Trespasser dropped and it was clear that the Solas confrontation would be one of the final scenes of the DLC a friend and I started to discuss on who to take along. Because we wanted to have the funniest outcome regarding to who of our companions will give Solas the most ****.

And I really really wanted to hear what Sera would have to say to him - but decided to bring other companions throughout the DLC.

Then I regretted it because still, Sera girl just through some weird insults at him when we finally meet him! But since I always stick to the same companion squad I have since the beginning while playing 'important quests' I couldn't change my mind anymore.

Then I regretted even having these kind of expectations. Boohoo! ):

I'm going to assume that if the companions did get a chance to talk to Solas their feelings about the whole thing would probably go something like this;

Angry: Sera, Vivienne, Cassandra, Iron Bull

Sad: Varric, Dorian

Confused: Blackwall

Strangely Happy: Cole

Inquisitor: Oh, don't be sad. Tell you what, once we track down Solas and beat him up I'll let you throw a pie at his face.

Sera: (laughs) Alright, I guess that makes going up to freaking Tevinter worth it, then.

Cole: Didn't everyone know?

Varric: I'm getting too old for this sh!t, Chuckles. I should have seen this coming.

Vivienne: I'd hate to say I told you so...

Bull: (some curse in qunlat)

Cassandra: First Rainier and now this. (Disgusted noise) Leliana was right, my interrogation skills need some work.

Blackwall: Suppose I should take some solace in that I wasn't the only one keeping secrets.

Sera: I. Freaking. Knew. It.

Dorian: Another respected friend and colleague deciding to unleash magical destruction upon the world. Terrific!

I still think this is a golden opportunity to make an expansion pack, it solves almost all the problems, but they have already stated they are done so yeah.

The next game (if there is to be a next one) hasn't even been announced yet, so we might actually see them bend things a bit in order to get us what we wish. They seem willing to listen to their fans. So if we just keep mentioning it and come up with ideas on how they could do it, who knows.

At this point I think its too early to say what will happen. Personally I would want my inquisitor to deal with Solas and have the option to either save him or kill him, as for companions. I didn't get the feeling they were too involved in each other beside the inquisitor, only some companions had a thing with each other. For example Cassandra and Cullen seems to be friends the way Cassandra was watching out for him in terms of his Lyrium thing.

Well Vivienne did make a comment as we chased after the Qunari and if you choose to say "We must save Solas" you definitely get to see how your companions feel about that.    I think it is pretty safe to say the only one who approves is Cole, who also comments about him being a nice wolf, which is something I find odd since apparently the only person who he now has compassion for is Solas and not all those people he abandoned to their fate in the old library, after he raised the Veil, all those people who died horribly at the Conclave through him giving the orb to Corypheus and not all those people who will die in the future in the "fires of chaos" in Solas succeeds.

What I thought odd was why they didn't follow; had Solas put some sort of magic on the eluvian to prevent them?    Yet they didn't even seem to be trying, so was he controlling their minds?      I must admit though, I would have liked to know their reaction after hearing his plan, particularly if you still want to save him.

After the final battle with Saarath the companions with you stop moving and you can't interact with them. I remember I was confused at first because they just stood there. I definitely would've liked to see the companions opinions on the whole problem.

Huh, interesting. I hadn't really paid that much attention, but now I am wondering that myself too. I would have loved to see what their reactions to him revealing who he is.

I haven't played the dlc. Not sure when. But good observation. Yes I would like to have the companions with the Inquisitor when facing Solas just to hear what they would have to say

Ohh yes, Blackwall definitely can relate to this so I'm not sure if he would be upset.

Blackwall might be a wee bit annoyed that Solas's plan probably involves the death of everything he's dedicated himself to protect.

Dorian would just be pleased that its a mage not from Tevinter that wants to destroy the world. But agreed it would have been the perfect way to end it.

But if everyone had learned of Solas' plan in his own words, would any of them really walk away at the end?

Blackwall, Cassandra, Iron Bull, Sera and maybe Vivienne would have probably attacked him the moment he revealed his plan...

Or you talking about the group shot when they all walk away after staring into the distance?

Anyone who thought they had a prayer of beating him would have. Probably most of the ones who knew they didn't, for that matter, as it could hardly make things much worse.

He does have compassion for those people. Cole outright tells Solas that he did the right thing, and he should let it go.

I'm always reminded of the Labyrinth when the main character inexplicably needs to face the final confrontation alone.

Didymus: Well, come on then!

Sarah: No! I have to face him alone.

Didymus: But why?

Sarah: Because that's the way it's done.

Didymus: Well, if that is the way it is done, then that is the way you must do it.

(I've totally integrated that into my headcanon of the final stretch of Trespasser, and I'm not even sorry.)

Spoiler

I thought it was clear the eluvian closed after the Inquisitor stepped through.

As to why, they might have attacked, and then Solas would have petrified them. He only let you through because he wanted to save you and because you had no way to harm him.
