Important information that everyone should be aware of, in the case of modding.

It is BioWare's policy that you DO NOT modify their games. They are not
responsible for any changes you make to their games and how they may or
may not correctly work with future DLC or sequels.

You are welcome to do any modding you so choose, but you do it at your OWN RISK.

My old mod pack for Mass Effect 2

Suggested Tools for modding Mass Effect Games that are still based on Unreal Engine 3.

Warrantyvoider's ME3Explorer

Notepad++
Texmod

Unreal Developement Kit

Mass Effect 2 Gibbed Save Editor + RC Mod Manager Inc' ME2 Mod Pack

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For modding Mass Effect 3, you should disable Origin completely from the game and enable the in-game console while you have mods, and Texmod enabled due to Origin's problems with other filters in use, I have made a replacement myself

Mass Effect 3 ME2 Style launcher + Origin Patch & Console enabler

In my later posts I will try my best to advice you all on modding ME Games and share mods i am making for Mass Effect 3, it's the one I mostly any more mod!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I try to answer questions within 24 Hours, I am busy at college and I have some game projects and mod projects I am working on, so it might take a while, but rest assured I do answer when I do get the chance!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Last but not least, feel free to share your own ME mods here, they're always welcome!

One more quick question.

Still have some problems with sections:

"Engine.PackagesToAlwaysCoock"

"Engine.StartupPackages"

The thing is - I,m trying to avoid all bindings just by using commands:

SeeckFreePackage=<Level_name> in 1st section

DLCStartupPackage=<Level_name> in 2nd section

Though these commands allow me to start ME2, load save and play without pressing any bindings, when i,m trying to reload any save after being defeated - game just shows me a background picture of game menu (that is manually called by "Esc" button). More than that - same **** happends when just any gamelevel loads (for example i,m going from omega to the normandy/mordin clinic/etc.). After loading screens - just black screen and level sounds.

Result - impossible to play like this.

Just to notice: many people who are loading "BioH_Garrus_xx.pcc" or "BioH_END_Vixten_xx" game files by similar way doesnt have this problem. The funniest part - nobody know why.

Is it because of file size i am trying to load, or am i still doing something else wrong?

using busebackgroundstreaming=false does the same problem, but it happens more rarely, loading game files via console, or binding cause the game to overload, due to the restrictions in Unreal Engine 3, only the stated amount of data can be loaded, some files that are too large cannot be loaded and this will overwrite older loaded data. this only exists to lower the memory consumption by the game, it should be possible to be disabled, i'll look into it.

Well, found another PCC file with turian data  to load. Now its only 5 MB, not 40 and now i have only missing background music sometimes - much better.

Sadly full face change wasnt sucsessful. Meh, will do that in ME3 then since it has proper mesh editor.

Thanks again for the help.

I know this post is really old but have you or anyone found how to "switch" default powers? I am trying to replace "Cryo Ammo" with Cryo Blast on my Infiltrator

You can do that most easily with scripts to add the power as a new skill, or by making a "new dlc" which would include the power as a bonus power, or alternatively you can do what you just said by replacing the old power, you need me3explorer to do that, it would take around 2-3 hours to replace all the required text files if you don't know where they are, I'll look in to it.

Wow thanks for the fast reply! I would really appreciate if you could look into it, and explain how I would go about replacing the old power?

The amount of time it takes my computer to process  it all is not important to me I have me3explorer but have only used it for installing higher res meshes, which was pretty straight forward.

Thanks

I made a script that will replace the cryo ammo with the cryo blast and reset your talents, although you have to press F12 everytime you enter a loading screen(possibly, it might do that), and a script which will give you the power as a bonus power, and give you talentpoints instead of resetting your talent tree, I will need a copy of your Coalesced.bin, which is located in your game folder, eg: (Mass Effect 3\BIOGame\CookedPCConsole) if you want to keep your current keybindings if modified, I will link you my coalesced file, with the script, the key bindings are relatively same as on the vanilla game.

I just read about it, replacing the power via coalesced is extremely difficult and would take time to work on, I had done this once, it took me around 6 hours to get one power to work properly, using scripts would take only 5 minutes if you know what you're doing.

I figured that doing it via the .ini would take a while, I couldn't even find a guide for it. Anyway here is my coalesced.ini you asked for. Thanks for doing all this by the way, I am pretty computer illiterate when it comes to all this software business.

I take it that you want the mod for ME2 since it's an ini file, I was talking about me3, but It works the same way for it too, just need to change a few small things. I'll modify your file and link it back in a moment.

Scripts are really working well by having to run it each time is a pain, but I would like you to know that I am grateful for you doing this its the game mechanics that are causing the problems.
