I'm at 75 hours and just got to Skyhold.  Once I started getting into this game I decided I wanted it to last as long as possible, and I have been taking my sweet time.  :)

I like this game better than W3, and I loved W3.

Skyhold's is where some of the best bits happen, like judging people and the companion quests.

This is where you might notice the game lose a bit of momentum, as it opens up several new areas that are just free to explore and are only related tangentially to the main plot (the Emerald Graves, the Exalted Plains, Emprise Du Lion and the Hissing Wastes). Corypheus' servants are all active in these areas, but you don't HAVE to go to them.

Also, be careful not to over-level. There is a Level Cap of 27. If you have Trespasser, you can activate a Trial to halve your XP, which will help keep you from being over-levelled.

That is impressive commitment. The longest I could ever go before Skyhold was 36 hours.

Well done, and I'm glad you're enjoying the game.

I recommend turning up the difficulty to negate over-leveling. It's better to get new abilities as soon as possible.

And we all should. It is part of the story, like a good book. Like exhausting conversations from the beginning. It usually takes me almost 7 hours to reach the Hinterlands.

I've got four characters past Skyhold now and have a better grasp of what to do in Skyhold.  I like to bounce around characters, usually playing a week or so on one and then switching when the mood hits.  I probably had the hours I noted across more than one character at the time, with none yet getting to Skyhold.  I should have stated that better.

Lucky for me I got the Golden Nug with no characters past 14, and no characters finishing the game, when I installed 'Game of the Year' over 'Digital Deluxe'(it was cheaper than buying each add-on separately).  so it has been great sharing seeds, schematics etc. across characters.

I just started a Tank on Nightmare.  Have a Rogue Assassin Archer on Hard at 14.  And at 14 on normal a 2H Templar and KE Mage.

Good on you, I average 40 hours to Skyhold on Nightmare, all trials enabled. Why? over 2200 hours in game does that to you, anything less is a total cake walk.

2200 hours... how many hours per week does that work out to?

Heh. I have more hours logged than that. And considering that a full-time job with a 40 hour work week is 2080 hours per year, it's about 40 hours per week. Heck, a truly obsessed person could do 40 hours in a weekend.

And here I thought my 300-some hours was extreme.

Well, I suppose we should tell them that part of that was logged as Beta testers so, we had good reason to be playing, and doing several things over and over again, reloading, and doing it again. :) Not all of that is straight playing the game, spend 12 hours testing a problem and trying different solutions, that's 12 hours on out play time but, we might have spent the whole 12 hours standing on the same cliff and engaging auto attack at the same target. A lot of it is just playing but, not all.

Turning up the difficulty isn't entirely necessary, they could always turn on Even Ground so enemies always match their own level at least.

Nothing wrong with taking your time playing the game.

If the game is Inquisition it is like saying "there is nothing wrong in drinking lethal doses of poison"
To have joy in exploring Thedas (in Inquisition) is like having pleasure in cutting off your own limbs, it is beyond masochism
I understand your statement, if a person said it about Dragon Age Origins I would probably say the same, but there is a huge diference between enjoying drkinking a sweet juice or a good wine (DAO) and drinking toxic things that damage your brain forever (DAI) with the possibility of death due to awfulness

I enjoyed DAI.  I enjoyed looking in every corner (still trying to find that "Last Crusade" reference, too).

Don't equate games with poison.  Games don't kill.  Neither do guns.  Or Swords.

I've been over this game for months but you don't see me bitching about it.

I think you're secretly IN LOVE with this game. You wake up in the morning thinking about it and you go to sleep thinking about it. You wanna be inside it, but the denial is so strong you make out like you don't like it but in reality it's like

Don't worry how long it takes to get to Skyhold. But I wish the advisors wouldn't try to rush you to save Celene or find the Warden. I just ignore them and carry on in Haven for as long as I can. Well. into there is nothing left to do.

When I take up Inquisition again after a time of not playing, it does happen that I sometimes play an entire weekend. It's terrible.  ^_^

Indeed Haven takes me at least takes me about 3 days of playing before I reach Skyhold too.

Agreed I do the tasks when I'm ready to not when my advisors necessarily hand me them. It's nice to have them but as long as they'll wait till I feel i'm ready to take them on then I'm happy

Amazing how many people are here to complain more than a year after release.  Oh well.  Call me crazy, I love it.  :)

And as for hours, I don't even want to query my WoW or LOTRO hours.

Yeah, this is a pretty common problem in RPGs with a lot of freedom. ME1 has a particularly bad case.

WEWH is a little weird this way, since in effect the Inquisitor -- or the player, anyway -- decides when the ball happens.

Only 1110+ hrs over three campaigns, and many CC sessions here. but have no real notion off the top of my fading memory of how long it took for each to get to Skyhold. I do know that exploring that Keep is recommended, including overhearing conversations, meeting minor NPC's, finding new rooms, etc.

Hope you continue to enjoy it!
