Anyone think this game doesn't make a 2016 release?

Anyone? I just find it odd when compared to Bioware's past this game hasn't seen any gameplay demos yet. I know we still have plenty of time and E3 will likely be where we see it but they've always shown some things way before their release. Most we've seen is prototype gameplay with a few flashes. I don't know about the rest of you but a big game like ME:A and you know EA is going to get that hype train rolling as fast as they can. It's a bigger franchise for Bioware than Dragon Age.

I'm starting to think they ran into development trouble because they needed to design every asset from the ground up in the Frostbite engine. Feels like the game has been in development almost as long as DAO. Anyways, I want them to take their time with it and fix on all the flaws DAI had. I just have a hard time believing it will make a late 2016 release at this point. Seems like we would've seen something by now at PAX or somewhere showing how confident they were in the game if they knew it was coming soon...

Bioware has real potential for this game to crush anything on the market. I feel like Witcher 3 raised the bar for me in what to expect from open AAA RPGs and Bioware has a lot of work cut out for them. I love their games and enjoyed DAI a lot but felt Witcher 3 was the first open game I've ever played that was able to tie narrative together so well.

I hope so, but I doubt it. Nor would I mind. A 2017 release would be great. Imagine Mass Effect: Andromeda releasing the same year as Cyberpunk 2077. Beautiful.

I hope they get enough time to finish a great product and don't get rushed by EA to release it just to make some fast $$$ around the holidays

I hope it releases on time for next year, but I won't be surprised if it's delayed.

If it doesn't, it doesn't.  I'm back to the general "meh" feeling I had before VGA's (or whatever they're called).  I just want a fun game.  That's all that I want.  It's just like waiting for the next Star Wars to come out.  Which, judging by pre-sales numbers (I think over $50 million, or last I heard) I won't go and see until it has been out a month.  fml.

There's no way it will be ready by next year.

I have no earthly idea.

Definitely second half of next year at the earliest though.

I'm guessing that we wont be seeing it in 2016, personally.

Which if more time actually is needed, better they delay it and get it right then rush it and release an unfinished mess.

It could be moved out of the crowded holiday season and still make the fiscal year like Mass Effect 3 was.

My money is on an XCOM-2 scenario.  They set an optimistic deadline to hit the holiday market, but run into delays so it ends up being an early 2017 release.

As long as they are using their time to make the game as good as they can, I'd be fine with a delay.

I'm pretty convinced that it will hit 2016. People are underestimating how much of an impact Fallout 4s reveal has had on the marketing industry, CDPR themselves said they hope to incorporate the same marketing scheme which revolves around showing absolutely nothing until they are close to release.

I think Bioware/EA are going down that same path, it's the best way to capatlize on hype, nothing worse than showing too much of your game 1-2 years from release, the hype fluxuates far too much and could result in a hit to sales. Release right at the hypes peak is the way it should be done and exactly why Fallout 4 is Bethesdas best selling game (in terms of copies sold at launch etc) to date.

???  Doubt anybody but EA/Bioware knows exactly where they are along the design process.

Also you need to remember their tentative date isn't until almost a full year from now.

It will be redy next year. Otherwise they wouldn't remind that in every advert.

The fact that we still haven't seen anything essential worries me, but what if this lack of information is the part of their marketing? I mean, look at DA:I's pre-release material. Maybe they don't want to show us stuff that might be cut. OR they're going to do something like Bethesda did and reveal first gameplay on e3. It won't be far from release, so it will cause massive hype among gamers. I think. It worked with F4 anyway.

My guaranteed prediction is that ME:A will be out by November 15, 2016.

That would probably get BioWare´s sales oblitirated, because so far it seems that CD project already own the market...

What they are doing is damage control, after the Mass Effect 3 and DA2 and Inquisition fiascos, they can´t get anymore of hypetrains which could backfire in future.

I never understand why people see rush as a bad thing. Do you want another DA2? The stuffs they can't finish on time, they will sell it to you as DLC. A lot of games nowadays have half complete game content in it that you can access but it would be very glitchy until they release the complete DLC for it. Why didn't they release a complete game with complete content? Most of the time, like with DLC characters, they need to create a base for the character first in the game, so why didn't they complete that characters and release it along with the game instead of getting it through DLC? By rushing for time, games are likely to be incomplete and more buggy than a Bethesda game and promote attitude that if they can't finish the game, they should just finish it later as DLC.

So there are these things on PC called "patches." Perhaps you've heard of them. They've been around as long as the Internet. With these, developers could repair games with problems.

But wait! Now that we have online consoles we can sell you the fix!

Don't give EA any good ideas, dude.

Yes, this argument doesn't work for me. I've had to suffer through the (Christmas Rushed) unfinished, abandoned KOTOR 2 and broken on Windows 8.1 Mass Effect 2 with halfarsed attempts at fixes from EA. I don't trust EA to let Bioware wrap this up if the release date is anywhere near December 2016. So a delay to 2017 would be the best thing possible for this game IMHO (outside of keeping Mac Walters away from it).

Yes, and I would rather not lose 40 hours of game time due to a glitches, perhaps you've heard of them? Some of the glitches can be pretty game breaking, I got one in ME3 and 7 in Fallout 4. A delay is best if they use it to make the game better. There is no downside to a delay. People waited for 3 years, 2-3 more months shouldn't be life or death.

They probably thought they were moving along quite nicely in development until they saw Witcher 3 and said "Oh s**t!!!"

What Inquisition fiasco? Some meager complaints here and there don't come close to what ME3's ending caused.

The MP was a bit of a letdown, but for a fantasy game I enjoyed the SP mostly. I think there is a pattern. The next game will shine with both MP and SP. :wizard:
