I am really confused about the speech between you and solas.
Solas tells us that the mark will kill the character off but we have no arm which means, we dont have the mark or? So is the character going to die still or?

Solas removed the anchor before the inquisitor lost their arm. The arm had to be removed because of the extensive damage done to it by the anchor. It would have killed them if Solas had not removed it. So for now, Inquisitor is fine.

You're still going to die when he destroys the world to bring back the old one, though. Just to be clear.

My impression was that he caused the anchor's magic to destroy itself, and this destroyed your arm in the process. But anything is possible. It could be that the arm and anchor were moved into the Fade and still exist there.

It's not shown in the game, so what happens can be left to head-canon.

Well, that's a creepy idea.

Solus: "I can save you but I doubt if you will thank me for it."

Me:  "Good ole Solus, always was a true friend and even asks for no thanks!"

Solus:  ZAPPPPP!

Me:  "Wait....wut?  Okay Solas, can you hear me clapping for you?  Didn't think so."

Weekes was asked about it on twitter. ROT13 was used to prevent people on twitter being spoiled about the DLC.

@PatrickWeekes Sorry if you’ve already answered this, but did Solas remove Quizzy’s arm or did they cut it off later? What’d he do to it?

@Olessan He removed the Anchor. Your hand was too far gone at that point to save, though.

I see room for headcanon about how the arm was lost/removed.

Well when I have Vivienne and Dorian on the same run, she says how they will put their heads together and try and come up with a way to help you over the anchor.    Once it is gone, then I assume they are just left trying to limit the damage as much as possible.    PW says that your "hand" was too far gone but it is clear that you lose more than just the hand; your arm up to the elbow as well.    I think it must have been a bit like magical gangrene, so they had to take it off back to the elbow to get all the "infected" flesh, otherwise it might have spread to the rest of you.

Mind you, I assumed he did take more than the anchor because he makes a chopping motion as he does so.   Elsewhere, someone who had actually had an arm amputated suggested that what was left after Solas' action was the gradually disintegrating lower arm that was still moving because of the nerve fibres within it not yet having fully died but was already detached from the rest.

This is pretty much what I assumed as well.

He doesn't take more than the anchor though - the "chopping" motion only happens in the non-romance version of the scene. He doesn't have any reason to take more from you depending on whether you romanced him or not, so it's just a little animation he makes whilst he does the magic.

My theory is that he removed the Anchor, but your arm was long dead before - it was only being kept alive by the Anchor, so once that goes, your arm crumbles to dust.. :P

My thought was always the Anchor could not be physically removed (as Corypheus showed)

So when the Anchor started killing the Inquisitor, Solas had to remove the arm to remove the Anchor.  Like cutting off a limb to prevent an infection from spreading.

I think of it as Solas petrifying the forearm to save the Inquisitor (and remove/unmake the Anchor) and most of that then breaking off, and the remaining petrified part was then amputated just below the elbow. Or maybe they have a stony stump? That might make attaching/using a crossbow prosthetic easier....

I believe this is the "hand grabbing motion" that they use in the game for a handshake-type of gesture. You can see a similar thing at the beginning of the game when the proto-Inquisitor agrees to help the Inquisition and shakes with Cassandra.

It is quite interesting reading the various theories and perceptions of these scene, and I like the Bioware left it intentionally vague. Whether that was because of technical game limitations, or to allow for player head-canon, or because they haven't yet determined how it will play out in the following game and are leaving it open, or some combination of any of these.

My Inquisitor is a warrior and wears the metal gauntlets. So I head-canon that the act of removing the Anchor fused all of the metal together, leaving it unable to be removed as normal and requiring a blacksmith to do so. The hand and part of the forearm was left desiccated and was essentially dead, so has to be amputated at some point above the dead tissue.
