They aren't really killing us just to kill us, they just fear change after thousands of years of lack of evolution.

it´s quite tricky question, while species of Andromeda had quite long time to evolve and expand probably freely of Reaper´s cleaning squads, on the other hand, we actually don´t know of how much we evolved in comparison with Andromeda, because our own technological expansion was speeded and based upon the Reaper´s technology. It may be possible that Leviathans and thru them Reapers were outcome of millions if not billions of years of evolution and technological advancement. We don´t know for how much long ahead have Leviathans evolved or how far they did advance, how long it took to them and other species or even if the other species weren´t led by Leviathans already.
Organic life is based on pure chance and yet may be expterminated by the event of mass destrucion natural or the artifical cause, so that potential sapient life could extint faster than it actually manage to achieve space flights. Not to mention, that our growth, not just technological, was also boosted by the fact that we had Mass Relays that allowed us to travel and colonize planets far beyound our reach to which we would travel with FTL years. Then there is also question of clash of different species and thus that cultures.
TL;DR: many variables, maaaany variables...

I would rather have zerg-like species that didn't rely on the invention of tools/technology in order to survive. They just evolved - inhereting traits from the countless species they have preyed on for millenia. But hopefully they don't look as gross as the zerg.
They never had to rely on tech, therefore the Reapers had no need to destroy them because their theory of "organics vs synthetics" would never apply to these zerg-like species.

The Zerg would sweep through like a tidal wave of death. The Reapers would be nothing in comparison.

Blizzard's cinematics are a total joke. The difference between cinematic & gameplay, particularly in this instance, is beyond "night and day". SC2 looks like Tetris in space. Total joke. I genuinely do not get how can anyone like that trash.
The Reapers would wipe the floor with those things.
