In my 1st game I did nothing to encourage either leliana or Cassandra and was gob smacked when Vivenne just took the job. Caught me totally off guard. I made sure Cassandra was the winner in my 2nd game.
Why can't THE INQUISITOR (I) become Divine? -.-

If there is a tie in divine decision points or you agree with Vivienne about the Chantry and mages she will have more divine election points and become divine. Even if you support Cassandra with the war table quest you have to avoid agreeing with Vivienne on several occasions because any ties go to Vivienne. Leliana is more difficult to elect as divine. You have to avoid agreeing to much with either Vivienne or Cassandra. Also ignore the war table support quests.

I had no idea I was in essence actively supporting viv. I had no clue she would even be up for the job to be honest. I'm not complaining as it was a good twist for me. Of course in the 2nd game when i was not romancing Cassandra I steered her into place. Not sure if I could ever support Leliana though, she's too cuckoo.

With only 2 powerful exceptions. Vivienne can only become divine if encouraged, AND recruited.

This is exactly how I feel about the whole thing, which is why I chose to disband.
Except that, according to Jaws of Hakkon, the previous inquisition didn't exactly vanish by choice.
