yeah the barrier king, he's the best and worst char you can use, if you play him too often then try another mage you'll be wondering why you keep dying and what happened to the barrier....

my prefered build is chaing lightening  stone fist sb and frost step with cl ring storm pact belt p.i. ammy and either a crit /attack/hok ring depending on what staff i'm using, couple of times I went with isana's song to see if it was better than pride but it really wasn't as good /

I think the storm pact countered the barrier nerf... since more damage = more barrier right? My AW cannot survive NM without the storm pact.. I tried it once.. thinking more health will help me.. but health doesn't keep me alive.. damage does.

I beg to to differ,

Without that barrier protecting your health bar you wouldn't survive perlious.

That added damage is great but if you don't have health you die. (Aggro enough bolters, assassins you will see what I'm talking about)

I also must state chain lightning is still more of a support thingy vs actual damage output with other mages but as far as that character actually killing stuff is not really true.

It mostly is a residual kill with the AW as far as chain lightning compared to the spirit blade (unless NM and enemy is immune) even with 200 cun

So unless your willpower is north of 275/300 you can still benefit with a higher con and belt of health.... unless the people your playing with are killing everything you have aggroed before it reaches you :)

Enjoy!

bolter is scary, but assasin is scarier if you are a lagger, cz their strike will bypass ur fade cloack when lag or ruberbending happend, 1 strike after dispel = death. For ppls with low cunn, ill suggest using Health belt cz its increase your chance to survive ( with zero HP sometimes) when meet bolter.

I use hakkon, 200 health belt, CL ring and 10% crit chance
SB, fade cloack, CL, stone fist/ fade step/ PoTA

Well, since my AW was left over at level 19 since the double xp weekend, I thought I would attempt to do a Perilous solo to see what happened.  Went in and I got Venatori.   It was pretty much smooth sailing all the way to zone 5.   So i thought, hey this is going to be easy.   About 1 minutes into the fight, while I was trying to kept my target on the commander... my barrier couldn't keep up and popped guardian spirit... and within seconds.. the GS barrier was gone too.  I have no idea what happened so I saved the video and went back to watch.   Turns out while I was busy on commander...about 15 archers just outside of my CL range was shooting at me.

So it was good try... went back out... still level 19!   WTF, you couldn't give me 2000 more xp????   So okay.. try # 2.... Dark Spawn!     Okay great... so all the way to Zone 4 bolters.   I wait at the corners... FC, peek out CL... hide again.   Took a long time and near the end I thought I could just run out there and.... suddenly... on my knees again.   Oh well.  I will try again when I get my AW back up to 18 or so.    I think if I get demon it would be easy.  Qunari could be easy too.. since they die fast with lightning.

I haven't done any Perilous solo yet.  I am sure I could do it on my Lego but it would take like 30 minutes!

Stupid stupid archers.    So this time I got RT.   Made it easily to Zone 5, and was doing really well until the commander died.   Now I have to find those little red dots and kill them and next thing I know GS trigger and arrows shooting me from every direction.   Try to run back to hide....dead.

Still at level 19.. try again.  Got Qunari.   Made it to the zone with 2 Saarebas.. killed everything but the 2 Saarebus sitting at the end of the zone.   Now my CL doesn't generate enough barrier because there is only 2 of them.   Basic attack alone is not enough.... dead.

Still at level 19!   try again... demon!   Went all the way thru nothing even remotely close enough to kill me.

So moral of the story is AW is invincible against Perilous demon.  Everything else have something that could kill the AW.... at least for the low promo one. :P

Have you tried this again recently, LC?

In NM, Qunari and Venatori are the hardest, but really not bad.  For Venatori, just watch for immunity barrier that the spell binder guys may cast on others.  Use the SB to get rid of the barrier, and then return to the chain lightning.  Qunari die nicely, but the assassins will strip you of barrier which is a bit of surprise.

As someone else said, I run Spirit Blade, Chain Lightning, Stone Fist, and Frost Step.

Recently try getting rid of frost step to include Pull of the Abyss.  Use PotA and when they are all nicely bunched up, you can use your SB to slice them all at the same time.  Nice tactic.

Moral, though, is that spirit blade may be buffed, but it is still very useful for electric immune enemies in NM.

No I haven't play my AW much now.   He is invincible in Perilous, and for NM, the Saarebus is more useful for the team.   But whenever I see people on leaderboard, they are usually playing AW with pact belt with their 6/7/8 bars of health. :P    I guess he is the agent of choice for fast mage promote.

And stonefist damage is horribly bad....I took it because there is not much else to take but still...

Stonefist damage is a nice source of spirit damage though for electric immune, it weakens enemies, and combos with your electric to put them to sleep, which can set up even greater combos.  Stonefirst is a great tool in the AW arsenal.

And, since it weakens them, it gives you additional mana with that 10% recovery passive.

But I love shield dudes. :D  They knock my teammates down and I could just kill them and save the day!  I am a hero like that... :P

Hmmm... but I take conductive current and skipped all the mana restore passives. :P  I don't even take combat clarity.  Mana is overrate LOL :D
