I don't get the hate.  How is Ryder cliche?  I've heard worse names.  I once new a guy named Sky Walker.  And a whole family with the last name Moorcock.  Maybe they would prefer that?

When I learnt that Dick is a name some people have I was baffled, then I studied a famous american poet: Anne Sex-ton. Then again I shouldn't be surprised, a good translation of my name is George Rabbithunter Square (geometrical figure, my second surname is Cuadrado, not Plaza).

Hello everyone. Let's keep it civil and on topic in here. Thank you.

Well, nice to see they still function here.

Anyway, that's not being slighted that anyone challenges my version of history, but rather the lack of basic manners in doing so Ms. Aimi.

Truth be told though, in any circumstances it was all off topic.

On topic though I'm just going to go back to the source and say, I believe this was descended from a German sounding named like Mueller which I find annoying, but I don't really have any other German names, and for the record I would use the same care and energy in finding one as a name from any language, sorry, but ultimately it isn't any more or less special than names or phrases from any other culture, and people from there aren't entitled to act more angry than any person from any other country, which, frankly, they often do.

And frankly, using the interent for just about anything is bad, maybe you should all get together and develop a translator specifically for the German language or something. I treat people how they treat themselves if Germans are more sensitive abou they're language but casually let the rest of the world assume google translate is fine then that's what's fine, if that's a big deal to them then maybe they should take Google to the ECJ for mistakenly presenting a butchered version of German as acceptable, and compel them to have a side link whenever someone selects "german" that takes them to their site. It would also be nice if it was well-optimized site, and a dozen other things, but that isn't the case right now, it's just one tab among many, and people can't be held responsible for treating people how they treat themselves.

Sorry moderator but I believe inter-cultural elements were a fairly valid sidebar.

Anyway, I still like Melka.

Given that a "Pathfinder" is a specialized type of paratrooper trained in reconnaissance and special operations, I doubt the new PC will be referred to as such, outside of "Lieutenant Ryder, graduate of the Alliance Military Pathfinder Training School." or some such.

Jorge Conejero Cuadrado? You probably shouldn't be giving your full name online to strangers.

Kind of on-topic and kinda veering off: If we have prominent British cast members (like Traynor or Chakwas) can they please pronounce Lieutenant properly (sounds like LEFF-tenant) or can everyone at least be consistent? The only Americanism I really hated hearing from Traynor was calling the taps in the women's bathroom "faucets".

I'd rather call him Shepard 2.
