You should try Avenger. It's so powerful that every enemy seeing it will automatically explode at the end of the match.

I really don't think it's the fault of the mods even tho they issue the bans and close threads. They don't even hang around this section that much. Everyone knows it's snakes reporting everything. Even the most harmless of threads  -_-  <_<

Who would have reported people for using the BSN Response Form? It's led to at least one ban and two warnings....

You know what is also a good gun?

The Phalanx.

That thing is the best non-Eagle, non-Acolyte pistol. Also one of those few weapons they actually made better, thing was junk in ME2, Carnifex was much better, but in ME3, they fix that, Phalanx is a beast of a gun, basically a pistol sized Mattock, at a fraction of the weight.

Which leads me to....

The Eagle.

You can keep your Harriers and your Hurrdurricanes, give me this little baby, one of the best guns in weight:power ratio. Few guns are as light as this, and I can only think of one lighter (Eagle is 25% at level 10, Acolyte is 20% iirc). If you ever need a sidearm that will not disappoint, this is it.

And now for the cliches.

Acolyte and CSMG.

Both are pretty good niche weapons. An acolyte as the main damage of a weapons class is going to feel pretty silly, and taking a CSMG on the same character will just leave you wanting a bigger gun. Neither is bad (though I don't like the Acolyte's mechanics, so I rarely use it), but neither is a great gun on its own merits. These are guns for characters who's primary damage is powers. That said, I used to have a friend who put these two guns on EVERY class. No matter what they played, it had these two guns. Sure, they cover each other's weaknesses, but there has to be better options.

Eagle is a mini Harrier and my preferred sidearm for my melee/shotgun kits. Nothing sucks more than standing in a hack circle and not having a way to kill stuff. With Marksman it becomes OP.

I don't use the Phalanx. Ever. Carnifex and Paladin are superior, even the Executioner has more impact.

Another gun that is underestimated a lot is the Suppressor. Seriously... take a Drell Assassin, go full weapon/headshot damage, put all possible headshot mods and amps on him and then go hunting mooks. Silent and deadly. He has a James Bond vibe, too. One shot is enough to take out a gold Dragoon, you just have to be able to hit heads. ^^

Scorpion is pretty awesome, too.

First, Arkhne, even as I agree about the Eagle and Lancer, you need to lay off the CSMG. There are no better options. This is evidenced by...well, every time I play with you. I don't relish saying so, but you started it. *big hugs and weird chili sandwiches*

Second, so the asshats responsible for the all the pointless warning/banning are actually members of this community who are getting worked up and pushing the REPORT button? That makes me sad. Is it just uncontrollable OCD? A desperate, pointless need for things to be organized and in their place? Or perhaps it's personal? Vendettas? Blecchhh. Either way, fargin quit it, you fargin iceholes.

I am a big fan of the CSMG, it is kind of a cliche sidearm though. Just like the Acolyte. One or the other will usually prove to be a good sidearm for any character.

This is a silly thread, but I will post a (largely) sensible reply.

I like both the Lancer and the Claymore, with the caveat that I mostly enjoy playing them both on specific characters: the Lancer on the QME; the Claymore on the QFI.

The thing I find with the Lancer is that I think it needs a specific combination of mods and equipment.  It needs the extended barrel (natch), but also the extended magazine because I overheat it otherwise.  So there's no room for a piercing mod, hence it needs AP ammo; and it has enough of a kick when aimed that I like a stabilization consumable.  That's a good fit for the QME: elemental ammo would interfere with 6+6 explosions from his powers, and a power amp consumable wouldn't make said explosions any more powerful.  So I use stun-and-gun tactics with Incinerate for shooting mooks; and firesplode armoured things, shooting during Incinerate's cooldown.

(Unless I'm fighting geth, in which case I hurl arcnades at anything and everything, spending TCPs like it's going out of style.  But I digress).

I couldn't get on with the Claymore until it was suggested that I try it on the QFI, playing it like a scopeless Widow, using Sabotage as a stagger.  It works for me very nicely, to the extent that I can't make up my mind whether the Widow or the Claymore is my favourite gun for her.  I have tried the Claymore on the QMI and Huntress, but didn't care for it on either character: the QMI has no on-demand stagger aside from his grenade stock, so I missed too many shots; the Huntress can stagger with Dark Channel, but I found that reload-cancelling got in the way of my DC/Warp rhythm when fighting bosses.  I did more shooting than biosploding, which was perfectly effective, but felt too much like "playing the weapon" on a character that I prefer to play more like an adept.

(An adept with a cloak, so I can dump aggro onto the poor saps who are backpacking me.  But I digress again).

Can't comment on the Harrier because it is one of the handful of URs that I have yet to unlock.

In 2186, Shepard's probably like "Why the f*** did I sell all those Lancers to Morlan back in 2183. Typical of it to become good after I've sold them all!"

Don't feel bad- if you already have most of your URs and have already survived the early days of transitioning to Gold, then you're already past the stage in ones ME3 career where the Harrier is useful or even tolerable.

I don't feel bad at all!  It's not a gun I've been particularly interested in unlocking, partly because of its cheesy reputation.  I don't imagine I'd have more fun with it than I do with a Claymore, Widow, Valiant or Arc Pistol.  And if I do ever unlock it, I have vowed to myself that I will never, ever, ever play Harrier TGI.

Consider it suggested that you try it on the QFE. It's beautiful.

Ehh...

Paladin is certainly much better than Phalanx, and Talon and Arc are just utterly OP.

I used Phalanx a lot when I started playing, but these days I find it's just too inaccurate for me to enjoy.

Harrierz rule, brah.  Don't let anti-harrier rhetoric prevent you from basking in its awesomeness once you unlock it.  It's fully satisfying, fully effective, and fully muthaf**king automatic.

The Lancer might be my favorite gun on the game, even though it's my lowest-leveled gun.

But no, it's not nearly the "best" on the game.  It's just really good and fun to use.

I hardly know 'er! :o

On the upside, it'll be a few weeks before I do it again.

Hey OP, I think you have mis-spelled T A L O N or H U R R I C A N E

Actually I do like the Lancer, it is almost as cheesy as the Harrier, but does less damage and sounds cooler.

I will also point out that I got my Lancer X 2 days ago .. only 1 UR to go now, BBP X on the horizon

I second the motion that you don't make vows like that based on the too-oft-stated opinion of cranky, old curmudgeons (including me). While I don't regularly put the Harrier on anything it is inarguably a fine weapon whose greatest drawbacks are its low ammo and it's uncanny ability to twist the undergarments of hyper-opinionated, under-sexed dweebs (including me). You SHOULD play the harrier/TGI - because it works - though, in the end, for no other reason than to decide for yourself if you want to join the illustrious "He-Man Woman/Harrier Hater's Club".

Lancer, my pretty.

Oh, how I have missed thee.

't has been a moon without thee.

And lo, finally thou hast arrived in a trunk

wrapped in the silks of greatness.

Let thy ever so satisfactory sound

be widely heard over the battlefields

while thou soweth death among enemies.

Nope. We're married, though. ^_^

Even though we are very close, we're not one and the same person/account.

Although some myths go around, wondering if Arkhne is Salmasrac's alt, and that would make me the figment of his imagination.
