Yes, it really does. With the barrage gear, it has no especially noticeable recoil out of cover (aimed, not hipfired); but in cover, I'd estimate that it kicks about as much as the Incisor does from cover.

It indeed increases the recoil when used from hard cover and it's a clear example (one of many) that the developers never really understood their own game. Hard cover was supposed to be a core mechanic in the game, it's why they "balanced" this gun to increase recoil from hard cover while recoil is much smaller out of it - the developers clearly thought most of us would be in hard cover most of the time.

The only kit that really need extra stability for the Harrier is the Quarian marksman, he don't have the stability passives like the Tsol so the increased rate of fire from MM makes the gun kick on him quite a bit.

It needs the extended magazine mod, in my opinion/experience.  If you care to give it another chance, try it with that and the extended barrel, and AP ammo.

I noticed the same thing, I got the Harrier after getting a Talon X. Talon was my main weapon on virtually every kit for a while there. It's the opposite, and benefits immensely from hard cover.

 

The Harrier pulled me out of hard cover so I had to learn soft cover and RHA. It also pulled me around the map a lot. Actually Harrier honestly taught me a few things about the game now I give it the benefit of context and hindsight.

 

Pretty much the only kit I put it on now is Drelldept. He's running around the map faster than almost anything else in the game, and you need grenades a bunch. I find it fits his playstyle perfectly. High burst damage quick hit'n'runs. Reset, repeat.

The only kit I put the Harrier on is the Demogirl, using the Thermal Scope. It's accurate enough to score headshots, from hard cover. This is why I was surprised to hear that the Harrier has more recoil that way (which makes absolutely no sense in any way).

Totally right, also at lvl X it really need the extended mag to be effective.

Extended mag + extended barrel with AP IV is generally the best way to use this gun.

Mine is still at level V.  But yep, my 46664 SI LOVES that mag+/barrel+/APIV combo -- in addition to a stab mod III armor slot and targeting VI.  The reasonable weight of my Lancer V gives my SI access to his yummy powers, with or without TC.

The packs hate me, I still haven't got the Lancer, or the Harrier, Valkyrie, Saber or Scorpion

The Lancer is a good gun but shines moreso on certain classes.  It is my preferred weapon for human engineers.  I still think the Harrier is better for more classes.  Crutchmore stinks the only reason it is good is due to reload cheating.
