There are some absolutely amazing anime out there for all age ranges. There is tons of crap out there as well. Still I can't think of any off hand that really fit for Mass Effect. I'm sure there are some, but not everything translates well. Though I think a few handled the AI and transhumanist elements far better than ME in general and ME3 in particular did.

One of a few that rocked that theme.  and ghost in the shell was more of a innovator on those themes so for them to get the story done so much better is even more impressive.

Pandas are from China. Pandaria's aesthetic is largely influenced by Chinese art and architecture. I'm half-Chinese here, so I allow me to set you straight on that as an official member of the ethnic group involved in that whole thing. I also happened to study Asian art in college for a bit (Japanese art mainly), and I can most definitely recognize the differences between Chinese and Japanese art (and architecture for that matter).

Japanese architecture tends to be more refined than Chinese architecture. It's the Chinese who tend to build gaudy and colorful temples and palaces in particular, like what you see in Pandaria in WoW (although that's obviously Blizzard's take on the general aesthetic). I also find Japanese art a good deal more refined than Chinese art overall from what I've seen, but that's my personal opinion on the matter.

If you want an example of what I'm talking about, then I will point at Japanese artist Maruyama Okyo's folding screen called Pine Trees in Snow - which happens to be a favorite of mine because it's so understated and elegant. Additionally, since I happened to study Japanese language and have watched a fair amount of anime in my time - I also have to point out that anime is Japanese in origin, hmph.

Gee, I went on a tangent - back to the main topic: I expect that most of the anime threads are jokes. And even the ones that might actually be serious, well, I don't know why you care enough to start a thread complaining about threads revolving around anime in here, OP. I mean, you do realize that NONE of these threads are actually going to influence ME:A in any way, shape, or form, right???? You can't honestly believe that anyone at BioWare is going to take this stuff seriously - pfft.

P.S. Per what I typed in that JoJo thread, I actually wouldn't mind if my male LIs looks like either Joseph or Jotaro Joestar.

P.P.S. Just because you don't like a particular style of art/animation - Japanese anime specifically - it doesn't mean that there aren't series that have mature writing and characters. My avatar is Akane from Psycho-Pass, a sci-fi series that I consider mature and intelligent (although I consider S1 superior to S2)..

Well, if not anime, then perhaps some JRPG

Where's all of this coming from?

Are you the same people who thought pandas would be a great idea in World of Warcraft?

Compared to both Cata and what I've heard of WoD, yes pandas were indeed a good idea.

WoD was fine - I mean from design perspective not the storywise one, however it´s still mediocre in comparison with the TBC, WoTLK or vanilla WOW. I also think that the next expansion is going to be an anchor for WoW.
