Really looking forward to Xcom 2. To be honest I have always wondered whether the Mass Effect series would have been better off going with more of a top down tactical approach, sort of like a mix between Xcom and Dragon Age Origins. I think I understand what the original Mass Effect was trying to do, trying to mix 3rd person shooter action with the tactical aspect of cRPGs but in the end it was a game that succeeded at doing neither, while future installments of the series have gone more in the 3rd person action direction I do have to wonder if anyone would be more interested in a more tactical approach?

Also having more flamboyant character customization options like eyepatches, tattoos and hairstyles other than the boring short crop military styles would be a plus.

Spinoff, sure.  Would make a great game for a tablet.  Main franchise, not much.  They jumped down the action hole and cant climb out. I love turn based combat, so I'd be for it on more games though.  I'm kind of irked FF7 remake is straying away from ATB which was basically turn based. I hope it doesn't stray too far.

How not to make your character, art direction or alien designs.

Off Topic regarding ff7: you can expect changest because it is remake and not remaster afterall.....now how much they will "stray" from original idk I just know from what I saw so far combat more reminded me on 'Crisis Core'.

Now back to topic: HELL YEAH I DEMAND EYEPATCH! Goddamnit BW give me eyepatch for my character already please. I need eyepatch to get 'Big Boss', 'Snake Plissken' and 'Nick Fury' vibe in here. Not fair NPC(Iron Bull for example) got eyepatch but no patch for me  :crying:

I demand option to wear bloody eyepatch I simply demand that option in CC, I mean common even games with less great CC have that option, BW give me that option as well I demand it! I'm tired of my character having both eyes, I want badass one-eyed motherf*cker son  B)

Or, you know, Baldur's Gate and NWN.

Oh I am sure they could if they really wanted too, there is nothing saying that they cant switch gears and do something completely different for the new trillogy.

That being said it would probably alienate more than a few fans who just want a light action/adventure game with RPG elements which is why EA would never sign off on it but I personally would love to see it and think it could work really well.

Yeah probably the examples I would have gone for but I gotta make sure the examples are relevant to the younger audience which is why I used Origins instead of Baldur's Gate (well I probably would have still used Xcom but substituted Baldur's Gate for Origins)

Personally I would love a more tactical experience.  I loved rainbow six back in the day, loved all the xcom games, and still prefer the original mass effect to the sequels because of that more tactical play.

That said.. obviously, the market prefers action since they made ME2 more action oriented and still ME3 more action oriented than 2 and sales just kept going up.  So why would they change that?

Just because I would prefer the game to be one way, doesn't mean it's a good choice.  As a previous poster said, I would expect any new direction in terms of gameplay (or even genre in this case) would see a spinoff.. which, I would love.  I would love to see more games set in the mass effect universe but different genres.

Specifically regarding xcom 2.. I can't wait for this game.  The customisation to the characters and being able to save them to a permanent pool, allowing your friends to import your creations and you importing theirs.. that's hawt.  I also love the new sounds, the new skills.. it's looking amazing.

What they can learn? Hopefully to stay as far away from that game as possible. That game doesn't appeal to me at all.

When it comes to saving the character model into a pool... I like to believe that after DAI, BW has learned that lesson already.
