Should Bioware release Dragon Age Inquisition 1.5 to fill gap between next DA game?

What is DAI 1.5? The game Dragon Age Inquisition should have been had it not been limited and held back by last-gen consoles. We've all seen the pre-alpha footage and compared it to the final result. The game actually looks worse in the final release, not quite as stunning and remarkable. In the final release, the environment can nearly not be interacted with and there are no real significant changes when the Inquisition takes over an area. We were also promised that killing off the wildlife would affect the area and turn it barren, promises that did not materialize most likely due to last-gen consoles.

Now that EA and Bioware have dropped last-gen consoles, and seeing as how we're probably quite a ways off from the next DA entry, wouldn't it make sense to release a DAI 1.5 - the same DAI game but made to take full potential of current-gen systems, implementing all the ideas they had that had to be scaled down or cut due to outdated machines?

I think DAI left a bitter aftertaste in many people's mouths. When it was first released, EA quickly released statements about how DAI was the fastest selling DA title and congratulated themselves and the Bioware team. Yet no word has been said ever since the time-limited DLC fiasco. It would seem people bought the game out of hope and a lack of big titles on the then 1 year-old current-gen consoles, but have not come back for more (out of disappointment). I personally have not bought any of the DLC either.

Why not do a DAI 1.5? There'd be much less work to do. No need for new music composer, for new writers, no need to develop new development tools, etc. Just putting things back in, "upscaling", making the game they should have released. And winning back fans.

I know the likelihood is probably nil but I'd like Bioware and EA to maybe entertain the idea. Why not show them we would buy a DAI 1.5?

"Mind the gap"

More seriously, I doubt they bother with DAI1.5 especially since they've already released the GOTY edition.

I'd much rather they make remastered versions of DA:O and DA2, but that's not very likely either :(

That's not likely because it would require much more work. In the case of a DAI 1.5, the work was already done. It was simply scaled down or cut due to limitations of last-gen consoles, thus it's be a much less complicated or costly endeavor.

I'm not saying that redoing the game to take full advantage of current systems is going to be easy, but it'd at least be easier than remastering the old DA games.

It is likely more difficult than you suppose to re-incorporate content that was probably scrapped while the game was still in alpha.

In any case, with the DA team down to a skeleton crew until the full development phase for DA4 kicks in, yes, Virginia, any time spent on another DA project would cut into the preliminary phase for DA4 and make the effective gap between games longer.

Better to just focus on DA4.

How about we stop begging and let them put the time and money into DA4 so we get a better game when we do get it. Seems a better idea to me. We've got JoH, Descent, Treaspasser, Black Emporium, several DAIMP packs and, the game itself, that's good for DAI. I want a better DA4 so, let them focus on that with perhaps one more patch to fix the elf female enchanter arms glitch and, a few other things that could use attention in DAI.

No please. I don't want it to become like the Assassins Creed series.

Well, I would buy it, but I buy everything DA related. I love DAI to death and am still playing the game, but I would prefer that they now focus on DA4.

No wonder it left a bitter aftertaste in many people's mouths, the real ending was sold as dlc called Tresspasser. The game outside the story missions feels like an mmorpg in alpha state where the quests are not yet added. Let it die.

How about the secret work that DG is involved with... lets release that while we wait LOL!

This will probably happen. It seems likely that the Sekrit IP is planned for a 2017 release, with DA4 planned for 2018 at the earliest.

(That's guesswork, based on the fact that the Sekrit IP has a whole room of writers at the moment and DA4 only has Patrick Weekes playing with Lego and going slowly insane from the isolation.)

I would love to play through Crestwood as it was shown at PAX 2013, or any of the other cut content but I wouldn't pay extra for that stuff and I don't think EA/BioWare is the type of company that would put it out there for free either.

I'd rather them make DA2 1.5 and fix the zillion things that game should have been.

Rather than a remastered DAI, I wouldn't mind seeing DA4 be smaller in scope, but released sooner, maybe. Or just be smaller in scope and released whenever it's ready.

During the build-up for DAI, I kept hearing about all of the things they were planning and thinking how huge a deal it all was, that they couldn't possibly deliver on all of it. And I was right. A lot of the things they showed us early on never made it in the game... but far more made it in than I ever thought they'd manage to pull off. I was seriously impressed that they managed to do as much as they did, even if it wasn't everything they talked about. I'm not going to use the word "promised" because they never actually promised us anything. They never said "I swear to you that this will be in the game." Sure, there were a few things that I felt could have been handled better, but for the most part, they did a fantastic job.

That said, I'm hoping they keep their expectations for DA4 a little more realistic. They have a better idea of what they can do with the Frostbyte engine, so maybe they won't promise the moon and stars and deliver only the moon.

I can take a DA4 for 2018-2019. It won't be 2016 and I wouldn't be dismayed if its not 2017, especially if there's another big project released on that year instead. 2019 would kinda suck but still fit within this console gen and therefore my at least my present PC hardware :P.
