I'm not certain that is true as much since all the Trespasser changes- spamming the Fire Mine array, enhanced belts of Storm/Inferno, Ring of Doubt, etc. I'm doing my first play thru right now as a Qunari Necromancer. I'm not sure he isn't more powerful than my KE. Beyond Walking Bomb/Fire Mine/Static Cage- when you are able to turn half the mob you are fighting against into zombies fighting for your side- it's magnificent. I kind of thought I'd be bored playing strictly as a caster- but I'm loving the Necromancer.
Indeed if you want to push the limits on the necro enchant the armor with apply 100 % damage walking bomb @ 10% chance masterwork over 5s. On necro it becomes virulent with the upgrade (but also deals friendly fire if friendly fire is enabled) Dropped from imperial vestments cotton from venetori brutes. Use inferno pact belt to generate massive walking bomb explosions from it processing from your flame arrays. By late game / dlcs try that out at least just for the omfg lols of "I just did 20k fire + 20k spirit damage + dot ticks to a bunch of mooks". If it's too cheesy downgrade a bit to electro belt and e barrage lighting cage combos. Both lightning and fire work so well on necro. That has great synergy with walking bomb. And since flame array with the walking bomb masterwork does so much damage anyways I found going electro heavy and storm pact to be best in trespasser when faced with multiple enemy immunities and not to be a one trick pony with the flame arrays which is quite effective but gets redundant once you just do a standard ice array + flame array combos.
