I think the fact that they are too dissimilar to humans makes it not worth the devs investing time and resources into it. Most people are going to find it off-putting, and only very small portion of the fanbase would ever explore those options. It kind of runs the risk of turning Andromeda into Rule 34: The Game.

 

Because of that it is better to limit the options to humans or the more humanoid aliens.

and to the OP: a "soft side" as you put it is not a pre-requisite to being a romance option. singling out Charr because of his poetic endeavors seems like you give the rest of the krogan very little thought and that shouldnt be the case.

I didn't mean that krogan had to have a soft side to be romanced. I was using Charr as an example of a lovesick krogan because most krogan you see are the violent, full-of-bloodlust krogans. I just meant that there is more than one side to a krogan, the violent, bloodthirtsy sides but also the lovesick side. And I'm sure that there are some love interests, may they be human, turian, salarian or whatever race they may be, that love the violent side of the krogan.
