I am having some difficulty getting weapon Amps from RNGesus. Any tips on what are the best packs to buy to get them. I want SMG and pistol amps!

OP- max out your consumables (medi-gel, missiles, etc.) with JEPs then spam Spectre Packs. Also, if you're really serious about it save up your credits then do the DLC trick (i.e. remove the DLCs to take the crappy gear out of the pool, stuff like shield cells, strength enhancers, etc.). Didacus' thread in the resource library gives more details (think its called "tricks for a maxed manifest" or something like that).

I moved Resurgence & Retaliation DLCs to a flash drive on my 360.  If I want to go on a spending spree, I just remove the drive and restart ME3.

 

I'm still at the mercy of RNG, but at least I've removed some of the least useful equipment options from the pool.

Weapon Amps are the true bane of the trollstore. URs are fine and all, but I feel like Weapon Amps, especially your prefered type, are rarer than URs. Never enough Weapon Amps.

I rarely have more than 30 lvl3 weapon amps of any kind, for AR I never have more than 10.

The troll stores love giving me stability amps, explosive ammo, Cryo ammo and sniper amps instead of shotgun amps.

Yeah I built up 90-something SMG amps and was down to like 30-ish pistol, and I think my ARs dropped too.  Have a decent amount of SG amps though.

I never have more than 20 of any Level III Weapon Amp, and I'm usually between 5-15.

 

Boo to whoever said Strength Enhancers were crap though.  May he/she be backhanded by a charging Krogan.

Try Vet packs. You can load up on level 2 & 3 crap if you have your Gels, Thermal clips, etc maxed. The first 4 packs slots are guaranteed level 2 and last slot is a level 3 consumable.

If you want to know for sure that you get four level 2 and one level 3 consumable then Vet packs are the way too go. If you don't care if it's level 1-3 then JEP is probably your best bet.

Uninstalling the DLC to get better amps, etc. is cool, but:

 

One thing about the move-your-DLC-to-USB trick: don't make the mistake I did and promote anyone while the DLC is temporarily un-installed. When you re-install the DLC, you will end up with a big mess where some of your characters got promoted, some didn't, some have negative points, some have too many points... then you have to promote again to fix things....

 

It's the reason I have 2100 N7 instead of a nice 2000.

I max my rockets/ops packs etc with JEPs, and the Spectre packs.  End up with a load of junk like cryo 4, and exploding ammo, but it keeps my level 3 weapon amps up at a reasonable level.
