I actually use those way less than shotgun amps. With the lag I usually have to deal with, cyclonic become better than them a good amount of times, and I don't feel that OP that way. Shotguns, though, have no substitute.

Anyway, these are still old problems for members of the mustard race :cough:

Pistol Amps is the answer. Because Talon and Paladin. Seriously, Talon, is there a situation when you cannot equip it (other than when you are playing a melee character). A serious challenge to high lord.

 

 I am consistently short on Shotgun and Pistol Amp but have about 250+ of Assault rifle and sniper ammo..

Occasionally, I find it an amusing challenge to force myself to use a weapon that goes with whatever amp I have the most of.

 

Unfortunately 90% of the time this means Sniper amps, so... meh. Maybe whatever I have the second most of?

Sniper amps and targeting VI:s - the troll store just loves to hand out those.

Maybe you'd also feel less OP if you used shotguns without the amp? Or with Targeting VIs, if you have any of those left?

Level II weapon amps are almost as good as level IIIs on Gold.  Vet packs are the way to go if low on credits.

 

Not that this is a problem for the PC mustard race.

I always have amps in the following hierarchy:

 

Pistol > Sniper > SMG > Shotgun > AR

 

...which is strange because I hardly play ARs anymore, but the damn amps never drop anyway.

But seriously, I've gotten that dissapointed in the past with JEPs that I don't even pay attention to what actually drops anymore. As mentioned before, Veteran packs seem a better alternative.

I remember seeing something in another thread recently about the MP statistics. One stat I would love to know is exactly how many explosive ammos have been dropped compared to how many have actually been used.

I use Explosive Ammo*, rapid fire weapons like GPR or staggering weapons like Disciple can make use of them. Save your real ammo for your real guns and Platinum! Equip an Explosive Disciple today and see the staggerfest for yourself!

 

(*on Silver, or when playing a Biotic with no Warp or Phasic Ammo, looks better than no ammo)

Sure, I'll put together loadouts like that to troll fellow lobbymates... but to actually start a game with that nonsense?

Now, don't quote me on this, but there was a rumour going about not so long ago that somebody actually equipped it on purpose.

It was dark and they were tired.

They also had a huge dislike for the number 256.

When I was a noob I used to unironically equip Explosive Ammo on the Reegar, convinced that it did something useful.

 

Actual conclusion: the Reegar is so powerful not even Explosive Ammo can stop it.
