Hope this helps...

Also ensure that you have patched DAO to 1.05 for a PC: 1.05 corrected some DirectX 10 game issues (but DAO remains a DirectX 9c game).

Its specs are:
Minimum:

OS: Windows XP (SP3) or Windows Vista (SP1) or Windows 7
Processor: Intel Core 2 Single 1.6 Ghz Processor (or equivalent) or AMD 64 2.0 GHz Processor (or equivalent)
Memory: 1GB (1.5 GB Vista and Windows 7)
Graphics: ATI Radeon X850 256MB or NVIDIA GeForce 6600 GT 128MB or greater (Windows Vista: Radeon X1550 256 MB or NVidia GeForce 7600GT 256MB)
DirectX®: DirectX (November 2007)
Hard Drive: 20 GB HD space
Sound: Direct X Compatible Sound Card

Recommended:

OS: Windows XP (SP3) or Windows Vista (SP1) or Windows 7
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 Ghz or AMD Phenom II X2 Dual-Core 2.7 Ghz Processor or equivalent
Memory: 2 GB (3GB Vista and Windows 7)
Graphics: ATI 3850 512 MB or NVidia 8800GTS 512MB or greater
DirectX®: DirectX (November 2007)
Hard Drive: 20 GB HD space
Sound: Direct X Compatible Sound Card

I used to have a lot of lag with Origins before I upgraded my PC.  Especially in battles or busy scenes.

The game still has memory leak issues.....after it's been running for a while, it will begin to lag. I shut it down and start it up again and then it works fine again. Still crashes when too much magic is flying around though.

And always upgrade to the highest version (1.05, I believe) if you are having lag issues, especially if you have the Ulitimate edition

What about this little programm, LAA (Large Adress Aware)? Wouldn't that might be helpful? :)

I am running 1.05, but after I play about an hour or so, I can get a little lag. I noticed it last night when Wynne cast "haste" on the party. I am running a 4GB video card, Windows 7 ultimate, 4GB ram (soon to be 8GB). I had adjusted data execution prevention for DAO (it stopped most crashes) and turned anti-aliasing off completely. I also have a quad core  now (DAO runs much better on a dual core for some reason)

Do you have an AMD processor?

For a 64 bit OS... and only if you have more than 3 Gig of RAM, and .NET 3.5 or higher

DX9.0 for most games ended up duplicating the video memory in system memory: so a 500M video card consumed 500M of system space.. so choking the machine. LAA will help mitigate this fact, with more 'virtual' memory for the 32bit application.
By the way this issue was resolved in DX10

@Luna1124;  The LAA workaround would probably help you.  I know it helped me tremendously when I had a Core2Quad Q6600 @2.33MHz  B)

Is that just for Steam or Origin? I play with retail disk version, but I can play through Origin also. I am thinking my problems are other programs running in the background.. because it does not always happen. I'll be upgrading my memory this weekend to 8gb instead of 4, so I'll see if that helps.

I also have an Nvidia GeForce GT 730 128bit 4GB GPU

Not sure if you know, but your Windows OS must be the 64bit edition ('Control Panel', 'System' will report your windows version). Only a 64bit OS system can use more than 4G...
You have the minimum memory requirement (i.e. >3G RAM)for LAA...
But I would evaluate performance of DAO with more ram memory before applying LAA.

Your GPU rocks!!! but it does mean you should have a 64bit OS...

Yes, I have Windows 7-64 Ultimate. I'm no longer having lag trouble, just CTD every few minutes in certain area's. So, I'm going to see what is causing it. I have not played DAO so much since I upgraded my system. This system setup plays Inquisition perfectly :D

The LAA hak actually won't work with the Steam install because at game start-up Stream checks for changes to the .exe file, (which is what this is).  Steam detects this as a corrupted install and "fixes" it for you.

No problem with retail disc or Origin installs (although using the "Repair Game" option in Origin will also "fix" your game file.)

And there is a way to get LAA to work on a 32 bit OS:
"If you have a 32-bit OS LAA can still help, but you need to do the following to allow 3gb usage "the 3.1 GB switch" in 32-bit Windows:

"Run Command Prompt in the Accessories program group of the Start menu. Make sure to run as Administrator manually even if you are an admin on the computer, it requires extra admin rights granted by right clicking and running as an admin).
At the command prompt, enter:
"bcdedit /set IncreaseUserVa 3072" (without quotes)
Restart the computer"

Now LAA will work properly on 32-bit systems :)"
