General steps to open and edit dialogue with the toolset:
  • File -> Manage Modules -> Single Player;
  • Click the dialogue icon (looks like a speech bubble) in the Palette Window to open Palette Window - Conversation;
  • In that window, find the dialogue file you wish to edit; for example, if you want to modify Morrigan's main dialogue, go _Followers -> Morrigan -> morrigan_main: that will include all dialogue that is initiated by speaking to Morrigan, or that is initiated by Morrigan with the PC. You can also use the search field to search for a specifc NPC name, which can help with isolating dialogue associated with areas or events;
  • Right-click the file and select "Check Out";
  • Modify the dialogue as you wish, then save the file;
  • Right-click the .dlg tab for the file, go Export -> Export without dependent resources;
  • Right-click the .dlg tab for the file again, and select "Check In". Make sure to enter a comment that includes some information about what changes have been made, such as a mod version number to refer to a readme.
Note, every time you "Check In" a file, that version is saved to the database. If you ever need to revert to an earlier version, even all the way back to the vanilla version:
  • Ensure the .dlg file is checked in;
  • Right-click the .dlg tab for the file, or right-click the file name in the Palette Window - Conversation area.
  • Select "Resource History" to open the Resource History panel;
  • Entry #2 on that panel is the vanilla file; any higher numbered entries are versions you checked in - this is why you want to make sure you put proper comments when you check a file in. Right-click any entry and "Restore Resource" to revert to that version.
Also note: every line of dialogue in the vanilla dialogue files has a Line ID associated with it. That Line ID is what links the dialogue to the associated sound file. If you make any changes to the text of a dialogue line, the line will be assigned a new Line ID, which will cause it to be unvoiced in-game, unless you create a new soundbank file with new .wav files for the new Line IDs. And that's a whole other kettle of fish... see here for some additional information on dialogue editing and associating new .wav files with new Line IDs. Hope that helps.

When I try to save the file it gives an error:
Unable to save resource data to the data base.
Resource can not be saved.

Anyone knows how can I change and save the single player dialog I have edited?

Edit: Reinstalled everything now it is working... yay!!;)

As far as I know you can only edit mods' dialogue if you have the builder to builder package of that mod.
