^ Damn, I didn't even notice that. CAN'T UNSEE.

As for the fire being like Sera's tempest ability, Dorian is the one who sets Marius on fire, not the potion.

That's what I mean though. We have potions that allow you not to burn in Inquisition they just also set you on fire. I imagined it was just something similar that a non-Tempest could make up.

The fire resistance tonic sets you on fire? I've never actually made one.

No, it doesn't. It just reduced the damage from fire.

This is obviously the same gambit used in The Princess Bride at the castle gates. The Dread Pirate Roberts ... uh, Marius ... takes no survivors!

DAI-period may have it so only the Inquisitor can close Fade rifts that large..

but I'm pretty sure I got the sense that the future will have a field of study that will include the eventual ability to close rifts, even if not to the same ease as the Inquisitor obtained and did it.

Now if it's anything other than this I will be very disappointed.

Maybe Sera drinks the charcoal tasting potion off screen first then smashes a Flask of Fire on herself?

Nah, it's explained while discussing the specialization with the trainer, Kihm, and The Iron Bull that your armour is coated with something alchemical that stops you from being burned. Whether that is in the Tempest flask itself or separate is unclear, but you don't drink anything.

Battle is no time for sipping, as Khim would say.

Bit of a bump to remind that issue 4 is releasing on March 16, 2016 (next Wednesday!) :D

To clarify an earlier question, the comic states the Inquisitor was already at the Hissing Wastes, which prompted the Venatori to fortify their position. A few other areas are name-dropped by Tessa.

Already read the chapter. I found it dull, but if fans like some of the cameo appearances from DA: Inquisition, then they might like it. (They're just not the characters I get excited about.) Not much happened and it ended very abruptly, which I didn't like.

Mostly it was just treading familiar ground; Tessa and Marius are literally just mopping up after the Inquisitor. Definitely the weakest issue thus far.

Was the whole "drawing a bath" thing was an invitation for sexy times, or am I dense?

I also thought it was boring, but it was sorta nice to see the Chargers actually IN action. Beyond the initial Bull recruitment combat sequence, we don't see them do much during Bull's quest, and all of the other times we just read war table reports.

I thought the cameos were rather superfluous, and Dorian's sole reason for being seemed to be to tell the reader what sort of slave mage killer Marius was, with the fancy Tevinter term -- perrepatae -- and all that.

Finally, I agree that the Charter bath remarks seemed like Tessa has a thing for her, or that they have some sort of fun flirtation going on.

[edit]

The continual teasing of the Inquisitor doing this, saying that, and so on is starting to really IRK me. F off with my character during DAI. If you want to say they did whatever after the game, then I have no control over that, but leave the in-game iteration alone. (My personal perspective, obviously.)

Just read it, gotta say I'm getting annoyed with the plot spinning its wheels so much. We're getting a lot of silly cameos (apparently just to establish these two characters in the world) and not a lot is actually happening. The action was actually pretty good in this one though.

Didn't buy issue 3 , reading comments guess I'll pass on this one too.

Bet they're going to stumble in Orlais somehow.

This basically is the plot. Magekiller is a series of side stories with Marius and Tessa as the connecting thread.

Which is an OK approach for a continuing series, but I wonder if it was the best choice for a limited run.

I like the whole Charter and Tessa thing and I hope it continues  as Tessa not getting any from Marius, when they do Dragon age 4 I would like to see all three in it

So far it's just "Hey, look at these previously unmentioned characters and how they were totally involved in the Inquisition storyline without you knowing!" But that isn't enough, it isn't adding anything and we aren't learning anything interesting or new (Aside from one new word). That's why it feels more like we're still establishing character backgrounds.

Marius and Tessa get sent to the Hissing Wastes to report on renewed Venatori activity there (After the Inquisitor's visit), and find about a sizable Venatori presence.  They get reinforcement in the form of Dorian and the Chargers.  Marius drinks a fire resistance potion and has Dorian set him on fire as a distraction while the others free the Venatori's slaves and set charges along the cliff the Venatori are camped under.  They detonate the charges and drop the cliff face on them,  Bonding with Dorian ocurrs.  Marius and Tessa return to Skyhold where Leliana tells them that the Inquisitor needs them.  End issue.

Did they mention what was so all fired important about the Hissing Wastes?   If the Inquisitor had already been there, then that means we had already cleaned out all the old dwarven tombs, nothing of which I would have thought was of interest to Corypheus or the Venatori even though that is what they were investigating when the Inquisitor arrived.    So it would seem that after we had destroyed the main Venatori  base in the region and all their outposts, they then thought it worth their while to return on mass and take up residence again.   What for?

I guess I was hoping the series would show behind the scenes for the Venatori and humanize them. It sounds like the comics so far have been The Missing Adventures of the Inquisition's Friends from Tevinter
