To something that isn't grey humans with 3 fingers?

It wouldnt hurt.
If they are going to be in ME:A I hope so.
I fully expect them to remain encapsulated "suit rats" if they make it to Andromeda. So maybe an apparel makeover.
^ ...that's a big if at the moment...
They'll probably remain masked.
If there are unmasked Quarians, I wouldn't mind them getting a slight redesign. The photoshopped image they used in ME3 barely had any alien features at all. Of course since Tali was already revealed and had been an LI they wouldn't be able to deviate too sharply from their portrayal in ME3, but a few minor changes should be made to at least make the Quarians look somewhat alien. Even if that just means an exotic skin tone, it would be an improvement.
On that note maybe they should just recycle one of the unused concepts for Thane, and have that be a concept for a male Quarian:

How you gon' give a race from a desert-like planet a starfish head?
OG noseless Tali concept or GTFO.
Sure.
They will have enormous eyes, rabbit-like ears, and stop wearing shoes ![]()
I hope so!
From Matt Rhodes' blog:
Personally, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to push players to the edge. Tali was like a pen pal, or a friend you’ve only ever known online. Depending on how attached to her a player was, how well could they handle her appearance challenging their expectations? If she looked a little too alien, just a little too repellant, would they still feel the same way about her? Or did her personality and your history together trump appearances?
I wish they had done this and made her look really alien. Or at they very least, a little more alien then a gray human. But I suspect they were afraid of pissing the Talimancers off too much.
I'm fine with the way they are now and I hope there is no change. Changing them would probably make me no longer like them because I've already accepted what they are now.
I hope not. They have been described in books that they look very similar to us, and the face they made for them in ME3 matches that. There is no need for it to change.
The books have been ignored at times. In Revelation, salarians are described as being shorter than humans, yet they are much taller than humans in game. In Ascension, a quarian male is described as being about 5 foot tall which is supposed to be the norm (stated as a foot shorter than a 6 foot tall human man), so that would make the females in the upper 4 foot range, which is a bit uncomfortable to me because those heights tend to indicate dwarfism or prepubescence to us in the MEU, where most human women are well over 5'7 (Jack might be 5'6). With Tali's childlike voice, her name meaning "little girl" in Aramaic, and if the book was accurate and she had been made a foot smaller than femShep, plus looks human, it would feel too much like a prepubescent human, a child or young teen. That said i'm glad they went against the novel and made the female quarians 5'6-ish and the males 5'9-ish.
Edit: This picture comes to mind when I think of how Karpyshyn described a human man vs. a quarian man's height in the book:

Artistic Integrity.
Yes, they now look like the DA2 elves

For some reason, I really hate that pic. I think its because of how utterly human it looks. Their face is superficially human-like by description and what you can see through the helmet, but at least make it look more alien than that. We already have the Asari and Drell. To something that isn't grey humans with 3 fingers?

Javik says that the primitive Quarians were attractive to them 50,000 years ago so I wonder if they evolved or something or if they remained hot enough to make a Prothean swoon ... they might give the Asari a run for their money

If they give them an upgrade, it should be one that makes sense. They come from a desert world, so make their appearance be reflective of adaptations that are common to animals living in arid environments. They are also said to have had a symbiotic relationship with plant life. If they go suitless in MEA, dont forget that part of their description either.
They were also described as being "beautiful" by the Protheans, but beauty is subjective and species - dependent. If the Protheans found them attractive, it would probably be because they had some physical characteristics that were similar to Protheans.
While I do agree with you, I think the original artwork was supposed to depict a pale, bald species and being that they are expert mechanics along with the rumor about them being cybernetic (Tali refutes this, but maybe that's what they were initially going for) I thought they were going for this:

a bit too robotic, yes, but something similar to this:

and with the suit:

Such that the quarians had mechanized themselves, which I find alien yet aesthetically pleasing.

thanks for the sudden Björk craving (that was some quality video making in 1998 like seriously)
See, I can live with that. The image in that picture in the game is far too human in appearance - one of the things I've treasured about Mass Effect has been the diversity of appearance of the non-human life in the galaxy, that they have these very different builds. I like non-humans to actually LOOK non-human, that they'd never be able to be played by a guy in a suit with some prothestic on their forehead.
Plus that photo makes no sense just in terms of when the hell would Tali have been able to TAKE it? Like, in the aftermath of Rannoch she took the opportunity to go ahead and basically do a photoshoot to pick out the right one? I'd sooner pass it off as like a portrait or something that she drew or commissioned from a quarian artisan or something like that.
