Thats one reason why I think the Quarians wont be in the new trilogy. They will be replaced by one of the new races.

That and they can be wiped out.

But then, krogan, so who knows?

Tali wasn't even gray.

The whole image is washed out with a sort of grayish-purple hue. That tone isn't her skin color.

Huh, I just assumed that was lazy photoshop work.

I think it is. Not that it wasn't already. The Quarians in the extended cut ending slides when allied with the Geth had their masks off, and you could see their face profile. It seems that same grayish-purple.

They also had no hair. And why would they? They are not mammals BIOWARE

Who says alien races who aren't mammals can't have hair? The rules of Earth don't apply to them.

And who says they aren't mammals or their equivalent to mammals?

People complain that Tali's face in ME 3 was too human like, but Quarians were described that way. Also when you play ME2 at high resolution you can see her face is very human like, other than the sparkly eyes (see 4k downsample shots). They already have 3 fingers and toes and Draenei legs and markings. Those were their unique characteristics.

The overreaction to the photo was laughable. I think the ending just ticked people off so much they were looking for ANYTHING to complain about. I always romanced Tali and I never cared about the photo. Most people probably didn't until they found out it was a model.

Oh and I think the picture the OP posted is HIDEOUS. I appreciate that the person is a good artist (I suck at painting), but if you want to make Quarians look like that? Put the masks back on in Andromeda lol.

Yeah. The only noticeable difference between a Human's head and a Quarian's head is stated to be the ears. And that was from a book that came out before Mass Effect 2, so before they even fully decided to make Tali a romance.

Yup. Little harder to see in this shot, but the other Quarian women had human like facial structure as well. Can see their noses. Black leather jacket is a mod of course. :) They didn't change anything with that photo in ME 3 as far as Quarian looks other than using a real model for the basis of it. When the face is supposed to look human? Prob hard to make a photograph of a human without using a human as a point of reference and then making alterations from there with the slightly slanted eyes etc.

What evolutionary advantage would hair serve for a race of bipedals from a desert planet that have been living in suits for 90% of their lives?

Dinosaurs had proto feathers which was essentially hair. My point is that it makes no sense why a race like the quarians will still have hair after centuries of exile.

Well, since they have a symbiotic relationship with the plants on their planet, the hair can help in the transportation of pollen, just like some animals on Earth do like for example bees.

There is no reason why they wouldn't. They wouldn't evolve not to have hair in only three centuries.

Nah, the Asari are space elves. Live a long time, considered beautiful by everyone, have the most advanced society, attuned to magic(biotics), etc.

They're probably a combination of both. Bioware likes to play with and twist tropes.

The Quarians were considered very attractive by the Protheans even when they were "primitives" according to Javik and he laments that people cannot see under their helmets. 42 seconds in. So yeah, I would say Quarians are pretty much the "space elves" even down to the ears. Asari are more like Amazons.

Well, since they have a symbiotic relationship with the plants on their planet, the hair can help in the transportation of pollen, just like some animals on Earth do like for example bees.

You don't need hair to pollinate, you just need to come into physical contact with the plantlife, and if the quarians are predominately vegan I can see them being symbiotic with plants just through skin contact alone. Some desert lizards do this. The drell are from a sunbaked desert planet and may have had to pollinate as well, and are hairless. Bees don't have hair like humans. If quarians have bug hair it would look and feel gross because they would be fuzzy all over. They have hair like us, that good, thick&furry, insulating, tangly stuff, which we didn't get from being pollinators.

Speaking of which, I think this is more spot on scientifically:

For some reason, I really hate that pic. I think its because of how utterly human it looks. Their face is superficially human-like by description and what you can see through the helmet, but at least make it look more alien than that. We already have the Asari and Drell.

If they give them an upgrade, it should be one that makes sense. They come from a desert world, so make their appearance be reflective of adaptations that are common to animals living in arid environments. They are also said to have had a symbiotic relationship with plant life. If they go suitless in MEA, dont forget that part of their description either.

They were also described as being "beautiful" by the Protheans, but beauty is subjective and species - dependent. If the Protheans found them attractive, it would probably be because they had some physical characteristics that were similar to Protheans.

Just a quick search and it says our furry ancestors initially evolved hair as a means of sensing their surroundings underground. Weird!

But who wants hard evolutionary science in a fantasy game where I cans romance people who think and act like us special humans. This game is more fantasy than science. So whatever fulfills our fantasies is what BioWare is going to go for. Asari, quarian, human, whatever, i'm just playing for good times.

Because I don't live in a suit. And I'm a gay space rock who's physical form is an illusion projected from the gemstone on my forehead

it would make sense for them to, if they had head hair, to shave it all off on a regular basis once it gets too long. They can't just open their suits without risking becoming severely ill just to fix a strand of hair that fell into their face. Long hair + helmets do not go together very well. Unless they have self fixing space hair, the hair would constantly move around under that helmet and eventually poke into your eyes

True, but fur makes pollen clinging to the creature easier. Velcro was invented by a man who saw his dog get seed pods tangled in its fur.

Bees were just the first thing that came to mind when it came to fuzzy pollinators. I'll use mammals. We have bats, marsupials, lemurs, bears, rabbits, dear, rodents, and monkeys.

I still think Asari are more space elves than Quarians, since like I said they have longevity, are the most advanced people in the galaxy, and have a deeper connection to the magic of the world than any other race. Quarians live about as long as us, never were the most advanced, and biotics are rare among them. Quarians are space elves if we are going by how Bioware had modern elves in Dragon Age, since the Quarians and the Dalish do have a lot in common.
