Anyways, Rannoch looks a lot like Utah, so if the Quarians are up for a redesign, they should look like this.

Reading the novels, they kind of describe them as looking human-like from outside the mask.

I don't think they need an appearance update since you really don't see them outside of their suits to begin with. Tali is just one example and not even a full body example, for all we know she could be the exception assuming of course you didn't like her revealed appearance, I myself didn't mind it since we were already given clues that she had to be appealing to Shepard who as far as can tell didn't find Krogan, Turians, Salarians, Batarians, Vorcha, Volus, Hanar, Elcor, or Protheans attractive either, so I was never down on the fact that she looked like that stock image with a few minor alterations, I mean the further away from human you get the less attracted people are going to be in general. Like I said the clues were already there, in ME1 or ME2 you could see the outline of a very human nose on Tali, also the shape of her eyes suggest they had humanoid like eyes, the curvature of her body and its general overall shape gave clue indicators that they were highly compatible with a human like physiology. Even when shepard removes her facemask in their romance it's obvious by the smirk on his face he's pleased with what he sees, do you really think he'd hide his disgust if she looked like a Vorcha, or a Yautja?
The Quarian are fine, and will likely still be in their suits. I would be more offended if because of bellyaching from the fans they rewrote the appearances we've read or seen in the series so far. I mean that's why people were so critical of the DA:2 Elves, because they broke the lore simply to try and please a small niche of the fanbase who complained Elves looked like humans (despite them always being described as the most fair in most every fantasy settings, I should note that fair in this case would have to be in comparison to something familiar ie human)

Arguing about Quarian hair, are we? Have an excerpt from Migrant Fleet Marine:
With her body sealed from the neck down, Sar picked up another razor, and went on to shaving off the rest of her hair - despite generations of genetical engineering, Quarians kept their hair, albeit with a much slower growth rate. Now, it had to come off, as it could be a potential health hazard after being exposed, even to a cleanroom, and then sealed back in a suit.
Done with the tedious task of shaving, Sar put on the majority of her helmet before looking one last time at her own reflection. With a sigh, she attached the visor and secured it in place.

I too want to know ... they would have to open their suits to give access several times a day.. wouldn't that just put them at risk?
Perhaps they use Emergency Induction Ports?

...you are forgiven. I haven't had time to update for way too long now.

It's not official, but they might as well take that route. I mean, it makes a lot of sense...
...which is what I was going for with the whole fic.

Sorry, I thought it might have been an official book or comic I hadn't heard of. I don't follow Bioware on Twitter, so I tend to find out about EU stuff it releases months after it actually releases.

It's understandable. I follow DA more than ME these days, though I put a lot of thought into it. People seemed to need feasible explanations, and I happened to know something BioWare might even feasibly pull off.

Uh, an update? That would require them to have an original, canon appearance to begin with.
I'm still waiting for Bioware to show me what Tali looks like.
