In the multiplayer aspect of the game when you tag along on strike missions I think it would be cool to be able to customize our multiplayer character and level them up individually (assuming you can have multiple multiplayer characters) and obtain new gear for them, alongside the main protagonist. I understand in ME3 Multiplayer you went for the more open approach and just added a **** ton of different classes, but it kinda bummed me out that I couldn't make them feel unique. I would love to have a custom Turian Havoc soldier with a jet pack and a shotgun that I can customize in the way I want. In the end on top of settlements, this will add SOOOO much longevity to Andromeda, which is something I'm sure everyone would love. And alongside that, req packs that you can spend with that money from the strike missions that unlock new helmets, weapons, armor pieces, etc for the multiplayer character(s).

ME:A won't have multiplayer. They will focus all their dev time on improving Campaign mode, as in SINGLE PLAYER FTW!!!

Maybe they could also allow you to select your race, gender and your class independently. Each race could have a set of attributes (health, shields, passive class power bonuses), but say two or three premade kits per class. Or allow fully custom classes with some restrictions based on race. Ex, Salarians and Quarians would have few if any biotic abilities available, restricting them from being used for Adept and Vanguard classes, but they get more unique tech abilities than Humans and Turians, who would have every class type available but more "vanilla" powers to select from in the Tech/Biotic areas.
The second part would probably only happen if BW allowed for custom class creation in SP though.

I don't really see the point in devoting resources to adding in-depth character customization to what are essentially non-characters. MP characters have no dialog, you do no role-playing with them, and they will have no impact on the narrative. They would essentially have to create character creators for every race that's included in MP and that just seems silly and pointless. If we had the option to choose the race of the PC and they just ported the various CC options from SP to MP that would be one thing. But to create in-depth CCs for MP just because makes no sense.

This.
With how it worked in ME3 I don't see anything other than unlockable/purchasable skins for ME:A.
Still having the SP character also interact with the MP features should be the next step for ME-MP.

I love the idea of modular armor, and species specific stats, though I'm not too sure about bringing a full fledged CC into multiplayer. Individually leveling up your character is a great idea as well, and I hope that it is implemented along side the power pool concept from DAMP (frankly the only good thing about that MP IMO).
I would like to see some of the non-humanoid aliens make it as playable MP characters as well. Make it so that the trade off for playing something like a Rachni or Hanar is that you don't get the modular armor like the rest of the roster, but you get a unique gameplay mechanic not present with the other classes.
