So. Hair. Are there any particular styles you think they should quit ignoring?

I would love a fishtail plait.

fishtail-braid-ideas-10.jpg

...but I know it would probably clip through armor too much.

There is a mod that gives the qunari and it's a waist length braid, but it's actually super beautiful when it clips through the back of the armour, ending just at the base of the neck.

I'd be okay with hairstyles that just give the illusion of length, low buns, short braids and bouncy ponytails instead of slicked back, etc.

Slightly O/T but braided hairstyles (both long and short) should be abundant in Dragon Age CCs. That's what immediately springs to mind when I think quasi-medieval aesthetics, yet DA:I provided 20 different flavors of rather modern looking buzzcuts. There was a real disconnect between how Orlais was described in previous games and how it was portrayed. We're told in previous games that Orlesian ladies are fond of elaborate hairstyles, and yet in DA:I half the female population of Orlais looks like Furiosa.

Now Furiosa in Mass Effect? Bring it on.

Absolutely. There is no reason to have 6+ different versions of buzzcuts, along with shaved sides styles in DA. One or two of each? Sure, go for it. But the hairstyles in DA were godawful.

I definitely agree, all of the buzzcuts in Inquisition was really disappointing. We had a lot more braid styles in Origins and the 2nd game, so hopefully they make a return in Andromeda and the future DA games. Also I love the idea of Furiosa in ME. :)

I would have thought more styles of hair pulled pack into a bun or tail would have been available, yes.

Edit:  I wonder if clipping was an issue?

If clipping is ever the justification for some boneheaded thing like terrible hair (or, to bring a DAI example, terrible skullcaps under the awesome hats), then they got some splainin' to do about all the other clipping that inevitably happens all the time everywhere with everything else.

They should just let it clip. PC gamers are probably immune to it anyway (my primary consideration is adding decent hair to the game at all, clipping be damned).

If clipping is an issue, then I'd rather they go with the illusion of long hair. I mean, Josie's braided bun is absolutely stunning. I was very sad to see that we couldn't get anything as lovely in the CC.

I use a qunari hair mod that clips all the time, but it's just too pretty not to use. I would like BioWare to at least give us the option for long hair, and if it clips let the player decided if they want to use it or not.

Definately. Dragon Age needs more intricate braided hairstyles and Mass Effect could benefit from some nice pulled-back styles for long hair, as well as awesome short cuts a la Furiosa's.

Also, I don't want to be the person who keeps bringing this up:

Inquisitor_faces_models.png

But I also kind of do want to be that person. Because these DAI hairstyles were glorious (and it looks like they were almost finished as well), but it was still decided these hairstyles wouldn't be implemented in the final game. Clipping seemed to happen regardless of hair length (I'm looking at you, Morrigan), so I'm still not sure what made them decide not to use these.

Can you add a gif with an approving look for me? I'm cheap and shallow.

Improving visuals everywhere as possible without eating more performance is something that might give more life to this game.

In The Last of Us game every single room is completely different. It is pretty much detailed and lively.

And in ME3 watching the sky was a bad idea. Because there is nothing more but a .Gif image above.

What about aesthetics from anime that don't do fanservice?

Depends really what kind of aesthetics, anime can have quite different styles. Overall I think ME:A should follow art style of ME1-3, but with improvements of course.

There are some that I think you should try. They don't have anything like that and can have great characters, plot, etc. It's a shame when most people think anime, they think things like the gif. But the same can be said of all entertainment, I suppose.
